what a 1980 Airstream Excella II 25' worth

hey every one i am looking to buy my first airstream and found this on craig list and want to know is this a good price or should i offer a lot less. Airstream Excella II fixing to go look at it saterday i talked to the owner on the phone he told me all works fine other than the hot water heater which he says you have to pay with it to get it to light. reson hes selling is he just got airstream motor home and has no need for it. no leaks said he has had it for 5 years and won some kind of award at a air stream convention. would love to buy itr just not sure what the true value is 11,000 seems kind of high to me

Don`t know if it matters but it looks like one of the narrow body trailers that was built for overseas caravanning. The price does seem a little high but if it is what you want and all systems are working then that is all that matters. Make sure to look under the step area and the rear bumper area for rust in the main frame that is steel. Good Luck

You want to look at the rear floor real good. My 81 had some serious floor rot issues at the back where the bumper plate funnels water under the floor. This same water rots the frames as well. The polish is eyewash and does not mean much if the trailer has to be gutted so the floor can be fixed. I think the price is high unless it is perfect. No leaks means they don't see leaks. Leaks in an Airstream are tricky and hard to find but all the water from the leaks ends up in the floor that rots. Replacing the floor in a rear bath means ripping out the interior and pulling the lower belly skins and that is just the start of the fun. Don't believe anything unless you have seen it for yourself. Icepicks are good for probing floor rot areas. To the right of the door is another leak prone area as well as at all 4 corners. Make sure all appliances work including the water system. I think it is worth about half what he is asking unless you can verify none of the above is happening. Many of us have bought trailers thinking they were ready to camp and we spend the next year or so fixing the thing up.

Personally I think he is high, unless the trailer is in pristine condition. It is a shorter model which makes it worth a bit more than a longer one in similar condition.

Do you know what is under the carpet? He wants to much unless he documentation as the the condition of the floor like what it looked like before carpet. This is assuming the carpet is new.
