Pricing question on 10-15 year old Airstreams..
Hey all.. I've poked around here long ago but ...
Anyway, I'm on the lookout for a vintage smaller trailer that's cheap but in decent condition.. However, in poking around on various "for-sale" sites I occasionally run across people claiming to be selling late model Safari's or similar for under $5k.. I have a REALLY hard time believing this is legit.. For instance, one is claiming to be a 2007 Safari for $4200.. The write-up for it makes it sound great. But I'm skeptical..
There's another on the same site -- a 2010 Flying Cloud for $3k..
What gives??

Some form of scammer. Craigslist is full of scammer listings for an insanely low price. Post links to advertisements for us to see (don't bother if it is a Craigslist listing). Look at the Airstreams for sale on this site for reference. Even old Airstreams are expensive.

Those are scams. Annoying to wade through.

If it is too good to be true, it is a scam. Most of the Craigslist trailers are listed in several cities, and all have some wonderful reason why they are selling so cheap. If they want EMT payment you can kiss your money goodby.

You can sometimes find diamonds in the rough, but they usually need lots of "polishing."
Rarely, in an estate sale, you can find someone trying to "get rid" of an older trailer (70s and earlier vintage) for a "steal" of a price, but vintage AS trailers in "go camp right now" condition are not cheap, and in fact are usually about the same price as a new SOB trailer --- unless you happen to stumble on some poor chap who does not know what he has, which seems increasingly unlikely in this digital connected age.

I recently (April 2018) sold my 2006 Airstream Safari Bambi 19’ for $25,000. The unit was in excellent condition. Had a good deal of interest and the price seemed right. Hope that helps you! Forget the crazy cheep ads, all they want is your email so they can sell it or scam you in some way.

I like to send them a reply stating I’m so excited to purchase just send me the name of you bank and account number and the money will be wired tomorrow. Lol
They seldom reply, but when they do it’s even more fun. 👍

lol.. Had a guy claiming to be a marine selling what appeared to be a showroom quality Bambi (if I recall) -- never looked to have been used, supposedly bought by his now passed father. He wanted to know if I had cash and what state I was in..
Obviously I was in the state of denial. lol.. I blew him off.. Thanks guys! I'll keep this in mind!
