If you are looking at "new on the Lot", 20 to 25% below MSRP seems to be the going rate.

Ephraim nailed it for standard discount on a new 2019. Don't settle for less.

Regarding gently used....

2016-2017's are running $90-$100k gently used before negotiation.

Note that you can buy a 2018 *new* off the lot (previous year model) for ~$110 - $115k before negotiation if you can find one.

Here is an example of a 2018 33' (higher MSRP than the 30') for $119k before you negotiate on the price:

Google is your friend.

Interesting how high the 2019 prices for the 30 Classic are as compared to our 2014 31" Classic with 50 amp service, dual A/C and twin beds. List price was around $98,276 before taxes or trade in shenagins. We have manual everything - no levitating bed, raising dinner table, electric awnings, electric stabilizers or computer controlled hot water heat. So any thing that has an issue is easily and inexpensively repairable.

When the recent complete control computer dies in a few years, I wonder how all these electronic marvels will be worth more than junk prices.

We have a recent appraisal value of $129,959 on our Classic after an extensive modification program was done in 2014 with 900 watts of solar and a 600 amp hour lithium battery, Truma AquarGo instant on water heater, Ventrifrigo marine refrigerator with a 12Vdc Dan Fosses compressor, all outlets are actual UL rated 20 Amp GFI commercial grade Hubbel devices. We also have disc brakes on the unit and a the Dometic CU434 stove.

So perhaps looking back to a simpler unit without all the glitz might be an idea as well.

Curious, everyone asks how much off list but not so much interest on "out the door" totals. Every dealer pays the same price for every equally equipped Airstream, and identical shipping. But while you might get a few hundred dollars off the price, the cost for the hitch, dealer prep, registration and a host of things you might have to.pay in two states.... not an absolute, but out the door costs make most bargains an illusion.

Sad but true, a certain SOB dealer chain which shall remain nameless tried to give.me.an "unbeatable" deal on a trailer, but was going to charge me for two propane tanks, and and and. Bargain? I THINK NOT.

Airstream of New Mexico gave us 28% off of MSRP as the "out the door" price. All those extras like the equalizer hitch, filled 40lb aluminum LP tanks, etc.., were listed on the contract as "included". Plus, they were great to work with. If you shop there, ask for Dan. When we picked it up, it was ready to go camping. They encouraged us to travel the day we picked it up.

I expected to be nickle and dimed to death, but they were honest and fair and let the trailer sell itself. All Dan did was ask questions to find out what we really wanted and then matched us with the trailer that had everything on our list. No high pressure at all. He actually gave us a price that rivaled prices on a 2018 gently used trailer that was on the lot.

I am glad you had such a great experience, and hope you love the new Airstream. The stars DID align perfectly for you. The 2020 models are coming out almost immediately, and a "year old new model" being GONE will make the next customer a bit more eager... whether to snatch the almost new 2018 or to get the first fresh new one, only rhe buyer's inclinations and pocketbook will tell.

A few years back Airstream introduced a special International... the Sterling. The cabinets were faux aluminum and the flooring came in two color choices, baby poop yellow or electric glowing magenta. (Personal reaction only, YMMD) It was not the resounding success that the Pendleton or Eddie Bauer were. Deep discounts. Oh yeah. I jokingly told a salesman that I'd take one for 50% off, and a pile of area rugs. The sales guy didn't bite, but an epic discount was offered.

Dealers have to pay "floor plan" interest on units they stock until they are sold. Some manufacturers hold back on that charge for 90 days, others invoice the dealer the day the unit arrives. If the dealership pays $40,000 for a trailer, 1 month of interest at 5% a year on the books will cost $2000 or $166.67 per month. That plus all the other overhead eats into profit FAST.

Your deal sounds exceptionally good, and I hope time proves it to be the model year turnover deal.

Decades ago I worked in data processing before it became information technology, and my specialty.... commercial lending with emphasis on floor plan loans. There were some really good guys, and some absolute crooks. One sold flood damaged cars as "new" complete with counterfeit titles. Enough has changed that most of the obvious crap doesn't even get tried amy more. But do inspect the roof, rivets and belly pan for un-noted repairs. A few get dinged during delivery and it is disgustung to find a problem like a panel overlay repair with olympic rivets that have started leaking.

Since you are in California I am going to bring this to your attention - if I did not already own a great Airstream, I would be parachuting into Winters, California to buy this beauty at a steal of a price. They do not make them like this anymore.

2019' Classic 30'

I didn't go to the dealer to see this model. I actually went to see a 2017 FC, but he had three gently used classics on the lot (2016, 2017, 2018) and a brand new 2019 classic (all 30') and it was an interesting opportunity to compare them.

The used trailers on the lot didn't have as much flexibility in price because they are on consignment. The owner is generally trying to get out from under a loan and recover as much expense as possible. The dealer also wanted to move the 2019s quickly so it worked out really well for us.
