Need help determining value '81 Excella II 31'

I need help determining the value of this '81 Excella II 31' center bath. I've never owned an Airstream. This unit is currently for sale for $21k. It reportedly was in a barn most of it's life. Most everything is reportedly original - even the original ice cube trays are in factory plastic. I've looked at it myself and didn't see any rotting subfloor, didn't see any significant issues (although I wouldn't know what to look for necessarily) but the price seems steep after comparing it to other Excella's online. I offered $16k and they didn't bite at all. I'm told everything works, that the awning is original (and barely used), that the tires were recently replaced, as was the water pump.

There aren't many Airstreams that come up for sale around here, and when they do they don't usually look this good, so that is appealing.

I believe your were good on your offer from my limited research. It appears to me, that owners are placing prices based on what they think they are worth, not sure if they are actually getting those prices or not? Maybe people with copious amounts of disposable income are buying these older Airstreams regardless of the price? I love Airstreams, currently looking for one I can do a frame up restoration on, but in many ways they are the "Harley Davidson's" of Travel Trailers. In addition, don't be afraid to travel around to look. If you limit yourself to only your area it is hard to find the "one". Look at lots, make fair offers, move on........

What do you intend to do with it? If you are interested in restoring back to original that looks like a good candidate. On the other hand, if you are intending to rip out the interior and modernize it fully you may as well pass and find one with a beat up interior at half the price.

SCOTTinNJ we plan to keep it original inside. One of the things that attracted us to it was they layout (center bath), and that it didn't require a remodel. We kind of like the older style anyway, and it was preserved so well. We ended up buying it for $17k which was more than I wanted but they ended up having to replace the brakes, hot water tank, water pump, kitchen sink water filter, and battery so I guess all ends well. Amazing that they had it listed for $32k...
