"It" rolls downhill...(too soon old, too late impulsive)

I'm heading out to California next week - 300 miles, 10 days, destination Sacramento area. Plotted a route to avoid most interstates, but still be near enough to get on one if the weather turns foul or any other fertilizer impacts the ventilator. It's a trip I've wanted to take for years.

Had another BFO when I saw a truck in our parking lot where the guy rolled out his bed slide, and pulled everything out of his truck bed with one hand. "I said "gee I wish I had gotten..."

A week ago I saw the thread of a member who'd "invested" $2000+ to have custom twin beds put into his 2016 27' Eddie Bauer.

Now there are two people who are smarter than I am. They got what they really needed. It might have caused them some angst to part with those "big bucks" but that's ONE TIME angst. They'll enjoy the benefits of those impulses for years, or even decades if they're lucky.

I'm not advocating screaming nekkid "carpe diem" attitude, destroying your present and future by overspending chronically - but by being hard headed enough to decide what you want, explore what you'll have to budget to get it, and then not whittling your dreams down to where everything is purely affordable and sensible and safe and beige.

Now, excuse me, I've got to find out if anyone local has bed slides in stock! Today is the day.

Paula

It would be cool to put the beds on those slide outs so you could slide them out the rear of the EB when the weather was nice.

With those bed slides, the only thing that would concern me is that if you have an open bed and they get wet, they are made of steel and may rust. On my truck parked in the driveway, I always have some standing water in the front of the bed due to the pitch of the driveway where its parked. The water just collects in the bedliner. But something steel would not last long in there.

That's kinda what I thought you were talking about. I don't want one, though.

Or, you can weatherproof and compartmentalize your truck AND have a non-rusting aluminum bed roller (2000# and 4000# choices for roller). Like you said, Paula - I bit the bullet on the cost of the initial cost, but loving it now! My "Pickup Pack" has 8' boxes down each side of the bed, the 4" dome cover, 200# roller and aluminum "headache rack" with detachable rear rack for boat, ladder, whatever.
