Is this a Caravelle?

Hello,

I have recently come upon the opportunity to buy an airstream potentially. I haven't checked out the interior yet, but I have these pictures:

Can someone help me identify the year and model? I think with my own googling it is a caravelle, but I am not sure.

Also - any idea what it's worth? I'd just assume average shape for the year. It has not been remodeled or whatever.

Just taking a stab at it, looks like one of the 1980 Caravelles - not to be confused with the 1960s Caravel. Check out this link.

You'll learn a lot when you get a chance to look inside. Find out if there's leaks, floor issues, etc.

I'm guessing Stef is right. We looked at, and considered buying one of those about 15 years ago at Can Am. We liked the layout and slightly smaller overall size. They are rare.

I like all the windows down the side, I'll bet it feels very light and bright inside. Those are tiny pictures, but what we can see of the exterior looks nice. The stuff that will really add up is floor problems, replacing appliances, and the condition of the axle.

Looks like a 20 footer Caravelle you will find there is not much info out about these trailers. there where not a lot of them made. They are light weight ours 24 footer runs across the scales at #3500 on trailer axles coming back from camping empty tanks but everything else is in it.

I agree this is likely a 20 foot caravelle. If it's an 1981, it might simple be badged "International".

These weighed well under 3000 lbs (dry). The 1980 model was 2539 lbs and the '81 2700. The 1980 model replaced the Argosy and the floor plans were about the same. You could get them with either 2 couches or a side gaucho and front dinette

Thanks for the replies everyone. I still havent seen the inside yet (think I will saturday). The guy's neighbor who turned me onto it said the inside seemed "pretty solid", and that the guy was asking $2800 I think. Does that seem about right? I've never really considered buying an as-is trailer - usually seeing them remodeled.

Does the rarity of the caravelle models make them worth any more or less?

I don't think there's really a premium based on the rarity of the model, it has more to do with size. The small Airstreams are popular because they are cute and can be towed by more vehicles, so they fetch a premium price. After that it's more about condition and layout.

If the interior is all there, and you don't see any major problems, and you feel confident about tackling whatever comes along, I'd snap it up at that price.
