Globetrotter 2018 thru 2020 average retail seems low on JD Powers

I am searching for a relatively new Globetrotter 27 FBQ and noted that the JD Powers is showing lower than expected ‘average retail’ as compared to other models and other years. The Globetrotter was also showing average retail less than the International. Ignoring hatch models, the Globetrotter has a higher suggested list, but a lower average retail. In 2021, the balance appears to be restored.

The Globetrotter model was reintroduced in 2018 after a gap of many years. Can someone help me understand what may explain the differences in the lower retails for the 2018 thru 2020 years? My information is based on Central Texas zip code.

I am comparing Suggested list with the average retail as a percentage and noted the following (rounded off decimals) when compared to International (Serenity except for 2021).
2018: 28% vs 16% hmmm...
2019: 26% vs 14%
2020: 23% vs 8% (? Seems low for the International serenity)
2021: 18% vs 18% <- This seems reasonable comparison between models.
2022 and above showing similar comparisons.

Thanks,
Mike

Since JD Power uses sales for their numbers, there may have been fewer sales for one category, some people may be more motivated to sell, etc...

You'll also find that as trailers get older, the values become more similar across models ranges and even lengths.

I’m not 100% sure what Globetrotters were actually selling for five years ago, but discounts were significant. We were looking at a 2019 25’ Flying Cloud, that was a leftover unit at our local dealer. They wanted something like $89,000 at their discounted price. I found a “used, but never slept in” 2020 25’ Globetrotter FB Twin in Chicago that was $12,000 less! Plus the dealer had added a rear hitch, fantastic fan covers, and a few other tidbits. Just told me there was a lot of profit for the dealers. Right after we bought, Covid hit, and prices almost doubled. (From what we paid). That also has to affect these used prices. We like the one we have with a 3 way fridge, and old style water heater, but the newer models have upgraded systems. Plus, the composite floor! (Which I wish we had). Those changes might affect resale also. Overall, I like the interior and features of the Globetrotter and find them worth a premium, but maybe don’t value them higher than airstream does.
