Diamond in the Rough?

Well, after searching for several months (looking for 25'), the deal came upon us that we couldn't pass up (faith?). Sellers ad only had one picture and a brief description. Condition was listed as 'above average', not Excellent, Great... Well, since it was located within a hours drive, we thought it was worth a look. I had a spreadsheet of all the years and prices listed from past sales on Airforms, so i knew what others were asking and this was below the average. Initial walk around was, sh!t this is like new! Didn't see any corrosion or fading like the others I've seen. Nice & shiny! Had new tires, new HD antenna, new skylight covers, and new AC shroud. My wife walked inside, walked around a bit, came back and said, buy it NOW or someone else will. Inside was 'show room' condition. Oven never used, beautiful bronze fixtures and solid oak cabinets. Trailer was stored inside its whole life and used only 2x. I was a little NERVOUS buying today because I wanted to keep searching for the best condition trailer for the money. Well, I think I found it today! Seller (nice guy) priced it aggressively and had individuals lined up to see it, some as far as 3hrs. He showed me his long list of emails about inquiries and I just happened to be the first one who responded to his ad. I wanted to get it inspected but seller had individuals lined up to see it, and i knew it would be gone if we waited. So we took a chance buying without inspection but did go through all systems and the only issue was door bell not working. Seller wanted a deposit to hold which we accepted. Pickup trailer next weekend. Also, seller mentioned flippers offering him cash, site unseen via emails. Plus, received a text from seller on drive home saying next person who looked, offered $1500 more. So in the end, proud owners of 2008 Classic 25' FB for $36,500 including all manuals, documentation, original sticker, classic lawn chairs... Now we just need to come up with a name! C-ya on the road!

Congrats! As long as you are happy that is all that matters.

We bought a trailer that was just used as a bedroom by a couple who built log homes all over Michigan; no smoke no pets no children; oven never used. Best buy we ever made. Your unit only used sparingly and stored indoors is a bargain given the age and condition...you should not be disappointed. Yes some things will need attention but that is life with any Trailer or RV, not just Airstreams.

Enjoy that beauty jumboscott; I was #2 on the list with the extra $1500 to offer. Sure wish it was me driving home with a smile! Here's to wishing you the best; hope to see you on the road someday! Keep us in your thoughts as we stay on the hunt for our 25' FC FB Queen.

Great find! Really enjoy taking it out.
I suggest going up one size and upgrading the wheels and tires.
Even though it was stored inside that would be something I would do before the first trip.

Will do. I did notice that their are many flippers on the hunt. I don't know how many call backs i got where i was 2nd in line only to have the first person buy site unseen and arranged for shipping. I guess i got lucky being the 1st person this time. Anyways, found this book a good read prior to buying, 'The Complete Guide to Airstream Maintenance' by Rich Luhr. Happy hunting!

I'm sure it is an excellent trailer.
The doorbell is 2 D batteries. The batteries are probably dead.
My doorbell doesn't work, either, and I don't mind.
Enjoy your new shiny trailer.
