Best time to buy
Sold my boat and Forest River camper and started looking for a Airstream, looked at new ones at Colonial Airstream and a few used ones. After reading about airstreams and watching tons of you tube videos I knew I wanted a 2021 or newer because of the composite floor. Colonial had a used 2019 FC on the lot that just had a new floor installed because of rot. I wanted no part of this so decided on a 2021 or newer, when i started looking prices where still high new and used, then late August came and I was patient knowing once the kids returned to school and the Hershey RV show was over prices might pull back. Well I found a 2021 Globetrotter 27FBQ with two AC units, Solar, Convection oven under cooktop instead of one in pantry. I watched the price on this Globetrotter go from $125K down to $110K in a months time and still didn't bite. I went to dealer that was selling, wasn't a Airstream dealer, I met with salesman, I asked him to bring me a ladder, looked at this Globetrotter from top to bottom and everything looked great, not a scratch or dent anywhere, still smelled and looked new inside and out. I checked out all systems and everything worked fine.I let this Airstream sit there for another full month and the dealer texted me a new price that was too good to pass up. Ended up pulling the trigger, being patient saved me close to $40K off the price of a discounted new one from Colonial.
I love this Airstream Globetrotter, it's absolutely beautiful.
I Walbernized the exterior and swung all the rock guards out of the way and gave it a thorough detailing. The Fusion/JL Audio sound system is amazing, I sit in it in driveway and watch tv all the time, get over 40 HDTV channels through the antenna on roof. I unhooked Bulueray player and installed a Fire Stick. Been buying accessories to make it mine, berber carpet rubber backed floor runner, shower mat, installed spice rack to inside upper pantry door. Quilted bedspread and pillow shams from JC Penny, larger trash can from The Container Store, bins for the medicine cabinet in bathroom from Target, storage bins from REI and Walmart. Outside Sterilite storage bin containers from Hobby Lobby. Pots and pans from TJ Maxx.
Even picked up some blankets from REI for lounge area and decorative pillows from Target. I got this Airstream just about ready for it's maiden voyage. If you are patient this is a good time of year to buy, between September and February.
