Advice on Buying a 1977 Excella 500 31'

I'm a novice, looking into a trailer on CL and am hoping to get some feedback from you all. I talked to the owner for 40 minutes this morning, and he seems knowledgeable--said this is his 5th Airstream.

He said he has replaced the floor and a good part of the frame in the back, due to a rotted floor and rust on the frame. The axels have probably never been replaced. He has owned it for 3 years and has had it winterized and stored in a barn during the winter.

Refrigerator seems like it's going to need some attention, don't remember exactly what he said on this one. =)
The gray water valve is stuck open.
Main canopy needs to be replaced.

Other things:
Stove works great.
AC and heat work great.
New toilet installed.
Almost all new plumbing installed.
New kitchen sink, countertop, and floor.
Electric brakes have been installed.

Any help or advice is welcome. I'll be going tomorrow to get a better look at it.

Check member list and search for inspector nearby. A small fee for their effort may save you a tragedy and misery.
Peace and Blessings..

Figure a grand each to fix the refrigerator and the awning. I'll guess $500 on the grey water valve.

Keep in mind, also, that shorter trailers sell better and are worth more than the longer trailers. That price seems high to me.

There's plenty of nice Airstreams out there; you can afford to wait and be picky.
