1973 Avion La Grande 28'

Hi, i am new here and I know this is all about Airstream's....but i need some of anyone's expertise....
We have had old 50's car and a few different campers...so why not a vintage camper. Now i am finding a new obsession!

Anyways, i purchased a 1973 Avion La Grande on craigslist for $2000. I have all of the original paper work from everything serviced to registration to the warranty check list from when the first owners bought it. It's pretty cool. We have found a few more issues then expected, but such as life. We have replaced the tanks, water heater, re-located the batteries and put a converter and a new fuse panel. New lighting new Wood laminate flooring and i removed all the trim off the cabinets and filled and sanded the holes for a smooth modern look. Looked a little country for me before, many would frown at painting over nice cabinets...but to each own. I sanded, primed and painted the cabinets in an Enamel paint. I am going for a modern but beach look if that makes any sense. Anyways, i still have a ton of work ahead of my self....but i want another!! Airstream, Shasta anything vintage and cool.. So my question when i am completely finished with the Avion, what is a fair price for it. That's if i decide to sell it. I am just unsure, new to the scene. Thank you. Take a look at some of the progression of the Avion.

Your trailer is really starting to look nice.
I would think if keep modernizing the trailer in a tasteful fashion and the systems were usable you could ask 2x as much as you paid for it.

FWIW, when planning to flip a camper for resale, it is best to leave original as possible.

Thanks for the photos. I was particularly interested in the "tin roof" design on the wall behind the cooktop.

Looks great. I have a feeling that you are going to want to keep it once you are finished. Also, I agree that for flipping, keeping it original would have been a better investment. You may be going too taste specific for a vintage market. However, if you keep it, what you like is all that will matter. There are plenty of remodeled Airstreams that went contemporary or retro instead of original restorations. It just depends on personal taste...just remember it is personal taste and won't have mass market appeal.

And, BTW, welcome to the forums. This forum may be dedicated to Airstreams, but we accept any aluminum. There are other Avion owners here, too.
