You can spend a lot of money on your 30 installing whatever it is about the 33 you want.

Also, be prepared to wait until September or later to get a new 33.

Keeping the brand new trailer you already have and figuring out how to be happy with it will save you a ton of money. I recommend that. We're still in our 2014 International Signature 27FB, having bought it new at the end of 2013. It's not "practically perfect in every way," but it works beautifully and is far better now than it was the day we towed it off the lot as a new unit. We've tweaked it and improved it all along, and that has saved us a bunch of cash compared to trading up every few years for a new couch, or ducted air, or whatever sexy feature folks are getting all excited about with the new model year.

Other thing you can do is put the trailer up for sale at what you think is a reasonable (to you) price. See what kind of nibbles you get. From that you can make price adjustments. Keep in mind that good discounts on new trailer can be 15-20 percent. So set your price accordingly. If you can't get someone willing to pay what you want, rethink how much you want to take as your loss. You may change your mind.

30globe2020 - Yes, sell privately on AirForums versus letting the dealer rob you. Make it spotless, put a coat of Griot's on the exterior skin. Take lots of photos (good ones), provide a list of every gizmo and improvement this trailer has. If it was only used twice, definitely emphasize that point. If there's been no pets or smoking in it, definitely emphasize those points. Great photos - inside and out - so important. Be prepared to spend 1-2 months selling it. Good luck!!

We've put in lots of miles on two 25 foot Airstreams. Personally, we wouldn't go bigger at all for extensive "road work". If you're going to drag it a couple of times a season or "full time" for years. I can see where all the room is a plus. I cannot even imagine taking a 30 footer much less anything larger, to some of the places we've gone. There are a lot of state parks where it was a squeeze to park the 25 ft. Pulling into gas stations becomes an issue. Add to that, we carried 3 (now 2) cats and their stuff.

I really suggest that you give it a try for a while and then decide if you want to go bigger..... you might even decide smaller is better. We've also lived on a boat for an extended period. Your lifestyle will change greatly from living in a house.

The only trailer I’d have that big is the 33...make it happen, ignore most these people.

Fix the other stuff - perhaps nice recliners in place of your couch? Try using a plain old card table in place of your smaller dinette table and if the size really works better, go for a renovation (or if the portability of the card table works stay with it).

There is no greater waste of space than the unnecessarily huge uncomfortable “dinette rooms” in these large 27-30 footers, the 33 is something very different. Like you though, I’d go with a 25 (or smaller) for “camping”. The 33 is for someone who lives in their AS or can’t or doesn’t want to embrace minimalism/backpacking/Spartan ideals. I certainly see the appeal of the 33 though and want one as my next home. The idea of retrofitting a 2020 Globetrotter with a card table though, I had to laugh out loud.

I don't know that the dealer is trying to 'rob' 30Globe. List price is $125,000. Good buy price at 20% discount puts it at $100K. If it is traded in on a Classic most states will only charge sales tax on the difference which can save $$$$ over selling on your own. $85K and 20% or more discount on the new trailer doesn't sound like a bad deal, painful, but not price gouging.

As of June 10, 2020...

30Globe2020 has listed their trailer for sale on Airstream Classifieds. Looks like they want the 33' Classic.

Here's the listing: https://www.airstreamclassifieds.com...-nevada-358262

As an aside, I think a forum moderator can change the screen name of an Air Forums member upon request from the member. I wonder if 33Classic2020 is taken?

Took a look at their listing. What a gorgeous trailer, love the darker wood. I think it has to be better to realize you made a mistake earlier than later.

I only have a 2012, but I think I know how some of the Vintage folks feel; these new interiors just do not do it for me. Dark woods, dark cabinets, designer colors for ultraleather just don't cut it for me. I do think that now the FC, like the one they are selling, is the nicest looking trailer interior.

I definitely wanted a Globetrotter, until a sales person made an off-hand remark that, "ya know, basically, all Airstreams are Flying Clouds with slight differences in interiors."
That remark saved me thousands, and gave me a very nice trailer.

I understand that with time you begin to understand the nuances of a trailer and to some extent the "new" wears off. Look deep down, think of the things that made you buy the trailer initially, do those things remain true? Of the things that make you second guess your decision to purchase a Globetrotter, will the 33' Classic really change that? Other than the much larger bathroom in the 33' it's difficult for me to imagine much improvement from your trailer to the Classic. Think about how you plan to use the trailer. I see the Classic as a two-person trailer. Granted many Airstreams are only suitable to two adults but is the Globetrotter less suited to your situation?

The Classic comes with it's own set of issues/features. You may get some benefit out of the features - only you will know that. But don't trade one impulsive decision and its perceived shortcomings for another without thorough evaluation.

If you decide to trade up, the dollar value hit will not be insignificant no matter how you proceed. Selling yours on the secondary market and buying a used 33' Classic may be one answer. Just like you wanting to sell a 30' Globetrotter there will likely be a person selling a good, used 33' Classic.
I think this post makes sense, I think the big hotel bathroom in the 33' is nice BUT when using the trailer you don't spend to much time in there (or do you?) If it is a winter home in Florida maybe the 33' would be a better choice, But you loose the wrap around windows at the back and Front and the bedroom is closed off in the front,

You live in the middle of the trailer, the classic 30' has the best of both worlds, windows at both ends, bath on the sides, like your GT but much nicer power couch and dinette, maybe spend 3-10k and get it modified, this will be cheaper than the trade in loss I think

Thank you everyone!

We are currently relaxing in Santa Barbara enjoying the ocean breezes... the 30 Globe is growing on me but I feel the 33 Classic will be ordered in the coming weeks.

I have appreciated all the attention/comments.

We’ve decided to camp and enjoy nature... but still feel like we’re at the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton.

Enjoy your adventures... if you come across two men and a baby in a Classic be sure to say hi! We’re friendly :-)

I'm sure you're in the middle of the proverbial rock and a hard place. I gotta admit I've always had a sweet spot for the Classic line of trailers but some of the newer models like Flying Cloud get our attention. Regardless of model we are very enamored with the 2020 trailer that have the rear hatch. If we ever upgrade our trailer the rear hatch is on our list of things to consider.

Regarding your choices on interior in the 33' Classic - do you like the darker wood tone or do you prefer the white? The white interior received lots of positive feedback at the Florida RV SuperShow as well as on Air Forums.

Thank you Spartan! I took your advice... I just picked up our new 2020 Classic 33ft. A gentleman ordered it back in January but due to the economic times he passed when it arrived.

The dealership really did an ok deal for us. Plus the memories we make will be priceless... and we’ll have a nice big bathroom.

Time to pack it up and head the the beach!

Ie: high back sofa, full size dinette table, large shower.

Now here’s the real dilemma... because the 30’ Globetrotter is a new model, our local dealership is finding it difficult to provide a trade in value. I know we are going to take a hit but find it hard to believe that a trailer that has been used twice can only be valued at 85k.

Had anyone else been in this situation? We want to correct our mistake as economically as possible.

Thanks

Like a car, the second the tire leaves the stealership, you hear the thud of the value drop. 20 years from now, you might see up to 50-60% of the value. I know early 2000's that sold for around $40k are still selling today in good shape for over $20k, of course it's because folks like you buy $90k+ trailers that make ours worth so much more if we care for them.

Many of us have bought the wrong trailer, and upgraded, traded, etc after a year or so. You **might** have a better deal to be had selling by owner than trying to get a trade in.

The Globetrotter has some pretty nice stuff, not as nice as the Classic, but in my opinion unless you want that extra 3 or so feet and a small cinema, yea a bit bigger shower bathroom....but unless you are full-time or a person that can use the trailer more than 4 weeks a year does the end justify the means (only you can really answer that).

Anyway, selling on your own might yield better results or try a different dealer.
