Wanted: Canadian Airstream Dealers

My wife and I are planning on buying a Sport 16, but RVCanada, the dealer we were going to buy from has discontinued selling airstreams.

So can anyone point me to a list of Canadian Airstream dealers? (or those that can order one? We live in the Maritimes (eastern Canada) so this side of the continent would be preferable.

Yup, they are big, and we have already requested a quote, but they are in Ontario so the shipping costs would be considerable. Any others?

There are other AS owners from the Maritimes who have purchased from Can-Am. It is worth the drive up to get your hitch installed and your rig set up properly while at Can-Am. A nice drive home with good campsites along the way.

Second that on CanAm. It's well worth the trip to have your hitch set up properly.

A thousand Miles. Or more is a Looong way to drive for a hitch set up or anything!

His original Question is correct.
How 'bout the " Mother Ship" getting off their 'duff' and open some dealerships in more of Canada!
Two dealers in a big country such as ours shows a surfeit
Of distain for sales oportunities in Canada.
Of course, maybe Airstream has just become too comfortable in their success ' s to 'shiv-a-git'!
THAT'S just coasting to mediocrity.
Too bad, so sad.😳

I have met other people from Maine, New Jersey, Oregon who drive to London, Ontario just so they can purchase and get service from Canam. It is a long way for you but you will never get better service and advice. We bought in Buffalo at a regular dealer, then cancelled after we went to Canam and bought our Classic.
You can park overnight on their lot to rest before you take your AS home. It is worth the drive to Canam. They are specialists in Airstream.

It is only a two day drive from CanAm to New Brunswick. Stop at Ottawa then on to New Brunswick. The experience will do you good. Our fist trip took us to Newfoundland from Ontario. We had never towed a trailer in our lives.

Have you looked at the classifieds on this site? You will save a lot of money buying used. These trailers are made to last.

We are in Red Deer, Alberta. Our closest dealer is Saskatoon. We bought both of our last 2 airstreams on these classifieds. Our first 2005 22' came from Arizona. Flew down, checked it out then had it shipped to the border for $1000 then picked it up and brought it across. There is several discussions on this site on how to do it. There is also volunteer inspectors all over the US who can take a look at it for you and save you the flight. Took 15 minutes at the border, paid gst and another small fee. Our second 2014 25' trailer was only 6 months old and we picked that one up ourselves in southern BC.

I live in Calgary, Alberta and bought my Vintage 1976 Airstream from Sault St Marie, Ontario. Drove out to pick it up and drove it back.
If I would buy new I would also drive out to Can-Am, or now that we have Mid-Town RV in Penticton, BC, I would probably go there as my second choice. I've been there a few times and their service is excellent.

Remember, getting there is half the fun! Picking up your Airstream half-way across the continent is just part of the awesome adventure!!!

(By the way, if Airstream wants to help me open a Dealership, I'm there!!!)

Roulottes Ste-Anne is also a dealer in Canada. The compagny is located at Terrebone, Québec. Their prices are competitive.

I just found these guys! They are out on Holiday until the 9th, but are 7 hours closer.

Just to be clear, I do plan on upgrading our vehicle with all the safety bells and whistles (brake controllers, weight distribution, etc) at a good RV dealership. But we have a decent one IN town.

And since we're going with the tiny 16 Sport I can't see needing the level of airstream expertise CanamRV provides. (and ya I'll acknoledge, they know their stuff.) So if I can go to a place that only takes me 9 hours opposed to 16?

Look on the Airstream website
Probably the closest CA dealer is in Quebec

The "find a dealer" only lists American Dealers last time I tried.

Two + Two doesn't equal Four...

Opening a fully stocked and trained AS facility is a BIG expensive undertaking. Ask any dealer what it costs to qualify and stock a product that costs what Airstreams cost. Additionally, exchange rates make them MORE costly to import into Canada. Yes, CanAm has them - However, AS is not their primary product line. I've personally talked to people that came to USA to find their AS. They too lament the cost in Canada vs United States - and dealer scarcity. Just as this gentleman has his cost/benefit concern; so does the 'Mothership' and potential dealers thinking of selling US based products. As was suggested, you make an adventure out of this purchase by going on to CanAm for your AS. NEXT, you will need to find a qualified AS service provider. BEST Regards!!!

Another thought. What is the closest US dealer? We bought our first one from a US dealer because at that time the only close Canadian dealers wouldn't come close to the US dealer even taking the $ exchange and travel costs into consideration.
You are going to be paying the exchange whether you buy in the US or Canada anyway so why not not check out all the dealers.

Airstream purchase

I live in London Ont, so I am fortunate to live near Can Am. I had them set up my Airstream and have not been disappointed. While there I also met many people from all over the US that came to get their rigs set up while traveling. Just my two cents.

We drove from California to Missouri to purchase our AS.
A) It was the best deal for what we wanted.
B) It was the most memorable of trips for us. One we will never forget. We would do it again in a heartbeat.
Hope it works out for you.

Got my options

Got what I needed: a list of my options. The dealer in Quebec will be back from vacation on the 9th, so once I hear from them I decide my next step. The U.S. suggestion was a good one, but my investigations show that the price difference is negligible once exchange is taken into consideration, (and probably gets downright debatable once all of the other small fees involved in importing something across the border) and distance is comparable to the Quebec option. If the USD takes a nose dive in the near future, I'll re-evaluate.

So many of you have put the "just drive" argument, and I wanted to address my resistance to it.... two small kids. (3 and 7) If this was just my wife and I, I wouldn't hesitate. (we have done the cross continent trip 2 times already!)

But this is just a trip to go get the trailer. 16 hours there, and 16 hours back. Even if they flew and met me there.... no matter how cut it, it would be....limited fun. Therefore it would be just me, so it goes from an adventure to work.

And although Can Am RV is by far the best dealer solution. 14 extra hours of driving is not easily dismissed. (7 extra there, 7 extra back)

But anyways. Thank to all of you that have replied. I imagine we'll eventually meet some of you in the future as we do plan to join the WBCCI once we get our pre-requsit AS.

Can Am RV will be the way to go. I met a person from Colorado there last year. They probably had a choice of a dozen closer dealerships but the Can Am reputation is such that they drive in from Colorado. Stayed overnight in the new A/S and had all the hitch work done right. After a proper lesson about the new rig and hitch system they were on there way home on the first adventure. I think that's the way to do it!
