Whoa, padnuh....why so snarky? [emoji3]

Did anyone rag on Julius Caesar when he proclaimed, “veni vidi vici”?

I think GMFL’s brief summary is brilliant! True, concise, Caesaresque...

Good luck with whatever you ultimately decide to do because....well, what GMFL said [emoji3]

Agree, sell now and post on airstreamclassifieds.com. We found our current rig there. For that size trailer, if you got a proper discount at the time of your purchase, and with the price of new going up, you should not lose any $$$. We actually sold our 2008 19' Bambi for more than we paid.

OK...

Never mind...

Ya know I lurked here for quite some time and didn't post because I noticed a LOT of the same posters with wise acre non productive snipes/posts.

I figured maybe a some good advice on a difficult decision would not be met with much of that.... but I was wrong.

Lots of good information here but over all many of you need a hobby instead of pontificating your brilliance to us poor masses ala Caeser....

Too bad one has to wade through so much of it to find the gold nuggets.

I'm gone...I'm sure this will bring out more of the same but I'll never know.

Thank you to those who took the time to give thoughtful responses but I'm not going to get into a back in forth with a nepotistic in crowd.

Yea.. won't let the door etc....

Not sure your getting it? Many folks here are answering your questions, but your focusing on the "tone" of a comment or two; not sure why you would get all "worked up" when many of us took the time to share our experience and advice anyway; and why start throwing out insults and words like "nepotistic" ?? Lurking is not good either...brings to mind "troll", and we all know those dudes drive us nuts.

Hope you got the information you were looking for; now you just need to apply it... or not. Ether way, hope you move on to your next big adventure.

Wow? I’m sorry I offended you. It was not my intent. I was “simple” letting you know that we all have opinions on what is BEST, but it is your choice as to what is best for you and yours.
I just noticed that you seemed on the fence about what to do and I wanted to reassure you that the choice was yours and to not be pushed to make a choice.
Empowering you was my objective not pissing you off.

No one wants to do that here.
I feel that if you decide to continue on the Airforum you should research people’s past post before you jump to conclusions.

I feel bad for the guy. I thought your response was doing exactly what you describe here - encouraging him, empowering him....I don’t know how he read that differently or why he sniped at you....he got some great advice on his question....

Oh well.....

Maybe because they bought a brand new unit in September and are selling it 9 months later because they need to......wait 9 months...maybe they are expecting and need the cash for the kid. Hey we should be congratulating them!!

6 post in he blew a gasket. Thin skin for sure. I sent him a PM letting him know that was not my intent and all I got was.....
“Why don't you take a moment to ask if your input is warranted and adds anything to the discussion.... before you jump in...”

Oh well...... is right....

He is on one of the nicest public forums there could be. He gets several good thoughtful answers and then a short one, not even a snarky, sarcastic or rude one just short.

Must be stress of selling.

Nepotistic? Meaning....we only care about each other?

Haha!

Cut the guy some slack. Who knows his actual situation but be honest, best BEST case scenario is lose ONLY $10,000 and dashed dreams. That'd have me "snarky"!

I was lightly considering the same until I crunched the numbers and am financially healthy enough to weather the worst and keep my Airstream but there was a couple days I was pretty bummed out and lost a couple night sleep over worry.. (I'm full timing so a more drastic change for me). Not sure of OP's intentions but my trip has been a wild ride filled with unpredictable twists and turns but so happy to have my AS to lay my head every night no matter what!

PS

I hope the guy is still lurking so he can enjoy being right about some of you guys! He called it man! How'd he put it..."pontificating your brilliance to us poor masses ala Caeser...."

That's gold and you certified it!

We have our moments here, but the advice seemed solid. He lost the $10K the minute he drove his shiny new trailer off the lot. The only question, really, is whether he decides to recognize that loss now by selling early, or to keep hiding from that loss (like most of us, haha!) by hanging onto the trailer indefinitely.

We don't have a monthly loan to deal with, but we pay storage fees every month, even when we're on the road, so we can be assured of having that spot when we get back! We all have our Airstream crosses to bear.

This is a false interpretation....

If you keep your AS forever you do not lose a dime! Your experiences make it a profitable investment.

You lose when you sell it; no longer have it nor the money!

By this logic you "lose" the full price of the AS the moment you sign the check.

I haven't lost a dime on mine! Still worth every penny I paid for it... to me!

Sorry again to the OP if they're checking in...Maybe a refinance or some stroke of luck will change fortunes...

Some of you are certified cold hearted gold medal jerks for piling on. Despite OP's sensitivities which we are unaware of details surrounding....

Come on Rounder,

Your just as bad as we were/weren't.

You just called us certified cold-hearted gold-medal jerks and called the original poster sensitive. [emoji33]

Who's piling on who?

Nobody meant any harm, really.

Section of your post:

You get the platinum rating!

Seriously! You sound like a bully whining when some one bigger comes in an thumps you!

Yea I thought the OP was a bit sensitive but buffered that with the fact we don't know his actual situation so he may be holding together much better than any of us would in similar circumstance...

Hey you guys are comfortable with going off topic and making assumptions about someone you should be prepared for others to critique your behavior.

Should We Sell Now????

Rounder44 - sure, I’ll rush in.... [emoji3]

What I like about what I hear you saying is that it always helps to be more empathetic. And I further like your view of value - I agree - I haven’t lost a penny on my trailer - the joy it’s brought us is worth 10X what we paid for it.

What I don’t like about what I think I hear you saying is that anyone was being a jerk to the OP. Could there have been more empathy? Sure. Does questioning why someone is essentially biting hands feeding him make someone a jerk? I don’t think so. You’re entitled to your opinion of course (perhaps I fit in your jerk bucket?) but I don’t resonate with that part of your view. I especially felt that GMFL’s brief advice was encouraging and spot on - and he got called out as though he was being a jerk - that sucked IMO - your mileage may vary.

Peace and happy camping.

Oh my goodness, I'm bullying?

If that is the case thank you for pointing it out and I guess we're both not acting nicely for criticizing each other and pointing it it.

Out of this thread, another one going downhill.

Sorry for the thread drift. We wish the OP the best with his decision.

It does appear GMFL's response triggered something. I found his first post equally innocuous and pointless as the OP's clear intention was advice on selling NOW.

What is curious is the OP spot on prediction that the thread would go down hill from there. Irregardless if the OP initiated to final push over the edge...
