How long for delivery once AS built?

Sure do wish I was posting this in a new AirStream

Placed an order in December. The factory sheet said the build would occur last week. The dealer doesn't seem to know exactly when the AS will be delivered. Last week it was this week. This week it may be next week. So who really knows. Does the factory not update the dealer? For those of you that ordered from the factory, how long was the wait?

Sounds fishy. For mine, seven days from expected completion date. I'm not sure when it actually came off the line.

I'm waiting on mine. When I ordered it in late September, my dealer requested the part of the VIN # and the build date. The manufacturing line fluctuates a little and sometimes the date is moved up. My 25A Sig will be manufactured within last 2 weeks of March. Then, the dealer said the factory has 7 - 10 business days to deliver to the dealer. Plus Dealer Prep time. I'm expecting picking it up Mid-April. You need to nail down the dealer and have them find out!!

Really sounds like the dealer is not much help and that's a shame.

With no help from the dealer or the regional chap, I was able to find out which company and driver was towing the 2014 Classic to Arizona, the time he left and the time he was expected to arrive. Was at the dealership within 30 minutes of it's arrival and it was a 20 minute drive from home. To put it mildly, the dealer was surprised.

The last 6 numbers of the VIN are actually the "build slot" number for that trailer. The preceding characters define the model and trim and that it is an Airstream. Two or more months out from the production date, any dealer can change one of his assigned build "slot" numbers to anything.

The elapsed time showed no grass grew under the tires and the 65 mph tire speed limit be damned. That was one reason for the internal damage to the coach let alone the pointed out at the factory QC issues that were not addressed.

Any rules against calling the factory direct and asking them? My last tour there were two couples there to see their trailers come off the line that day. Airstream was treating them like VIPs.

Never heard back from the dealer today. Called the AS rep - very helpful. He told me it will be delivered on Monday to the dealer. That's good news! Thanks for sharing your experiences. Hopefully the dealer prep won't take too long.

Make sure they actually do a complete prep and not just paper whip it. Also get an in depth review of ALL the systems. Too many very basic and simple procedures seem to be glossed over or not covered at all by some dealerships. If they try to charge you for this review tell them to pack sand. Good luck and enjoy your new Airatream.
