How close to sticker price on a new model?

Am looking to buy a new 2014 27-30 foot serenity. The 30 ft is listing at 94,000.00. How close to sticker price should I expect to pay?

Given their backlog of 800 trailers on order (according to Bob Wheeler, President of Airstream), I'm guessing the usual 15-20% is going to be a tough haul. Was just at the factory a couple of weeks ago with the Alumapalooza rally. My third time going through the factory and you can see (and feel) the increase in trailer production. I suspect some dealers will be more competitive than others, but it surely sounds like Airstream is now a seller's market. Good luck in your search!

My 2013 25FB Serenity was made in June 2012 and took 9 days (started 19 June and finished 28 June). The current build time is seven elapsed days. I scheduled our 27FB Classic to be built Wednesday 15 January and expect it to be done the following Wednesday (I will photograph the build process of our unit). All the build slots are full now into November.

There will probably be less generous discounts, but there are a lot of unsold 2013 and even a few 2012 models on dealer lots. Go to the Airstream factory web page and go state by state and select each dealer to check inventory. Make a list and start making calls. Those dealers on the East coast during the hurricane will be discounting stock that was on hand during the storm and got lots of salt water on the units. I have seen 2012 new stock, so look around.

The 2014 model are being loaded by dealers with options you may not want. That is why I ordered ours with only the two options we wanted which gave us more storage space.

oh wow, well, we are strongly considering a new flying cloud 28 or 30 foot (have not yet decided, going to look at them more closely in july)...hope to get it in december...

We are thinking about ordering new from factory.....tell me you meant november 2013 slots, not 2014? :O

Correct, November 2013 or six months from now. The 2014 production officially started in June but I saw on a large dealers website in May units supposedly reflecting 2014 model year production were on their lot. The dealers websites out West show both 2013 and 2014 units "in Transit" and even some of them have 2014's on the lot.

I would imagine a late July order could be slotted for the end of January or even February or March production.

I think I got about 10% of MSRP. Today I came across some notes i took while getting the deal done. We ended up with so many freebies at the end of the day it was like getting a bigger discount. We did by from dealer inventory. The trailer had been on the lot 3 months. There was another Classic 30 at another dealership on the Mississippi coast for about the same amount of money. My final decision to purchase in Little Rock was based on the fact that the distance to that dealer was shorter. They also told me about going online for financing through Good Sam.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking I might be lucky to get 10 percent off. Does it sound crazy to pay 84,000.00 for a new 30 ft? I would really like to buy new so I get the warranty.

I have noticed that MSRP varies from dealer to dealer. Seems like that should be set by Airstream (maybe it is and some dealers are crooks?).

I bought my 1999 safari new in 1999. It's held up well. I can't believe the price increase.I bought a new 25 footer with double bunks for about 25000.The same flying cloud price from the factory is about 49000 today. I think Airstream is going to price themselves out of a lot business. I've seen other brands that are very competitive with some features that that are really interesting like Evergreen ultra lite. That are half the price!!!What's going on with prices???They are selling the brand on old prestige not value.

I was interested in evergreen as such...followed their forums for a while...last I saw on that forum, they were dropping most of the fiberglass models that were made with composite inside...they pushed upwards of 40K if I remember and they were not getting enough orders...

I kinda liked these, but the wife was not interested....but it is sad to see prices go up by double..really?!

Some of it may have to do with low interest rates on credit...25K at 7% back then, vs. 40K at 3.5%....? Just a thought...when interest rates climb back up, I would think that could leave AS in a weird position?

Keep in mind, I am a pharmacy geek, not a finanicial wiz...most of what I just said could be total crap

I heard today that the December production is nearly booked with a possibility of no two week shutdown at Christmas due to demand. Obviously, the largest dealers placed huge initial orders to absorb the early production and perhaps block out the smaller dealerships timely access to the 2014 models. Two dealerships together ordered over 170 units at the dealer show. That was for mainly for inventory, not sold goods.

The concept of discounts may disappear if Airstream can sell a full year's production in the first quarter of the year. Since Airstream just sells to dealerships, the retail buyers may find availability of certain desirable models could start to run out early in the year. The remaining dwindling supply of these models may then sell at MSRP or higher.

Sounds like Harley back in the day managing production to keep prices elevated due to demand.

The early worm gets the bird!

Gsdiva, I'm curious to know what discount you end up getting. We're looking to buy a New Flying Cloud 30 in the next few months.

No longer possible on the Airstream website. Just Google Airstream MSRP and you'll get a NADA link with current MSRP's.

Interest rates will be in a upward movement soon, that is what my concern would be. Now if you wait till the interest rate begins to effect sales then MSRP will go down, production is up right now, and at this time rates are down. I think if you plan to finance your trailer, do it now. If your paying cash you might want to wait till later in the year.

Yesterday, the dealer implied January build slots are now being pencilled into the schedule. Remember that most of the time, Airstream is building for dealer stock. I sense that there is a fairly small percentage of the production resulting from customer special orders.

That is why most units on dealer's lots could include things you might not want or lack what you would like as an option , but there are no other choices unless you have the time to go the Burger King route and "order it your way"!

I noticed at the new Tucson, AZ dealer this past winter their MSRP was several thousand higher than our Minnesota dealer. Maybe they set it according to locale, or maybe some dealers just like to play price games more than others.

Not recommending it, but if you must get a loan, searching for and dealing on interest rate can save you much more money than haggling with RV dealers in the long run.
