I wouldn't want to deal with someone who won't tell me who they are.

Caution is always warranted. You may wish to conduct final transaction, and transfer title and money, at your credit union or bank. That way you have witnesses, and they can verify check is good, currency isn't counterfeit, etc. Also, just to be safe, I wouldn't go anywhere or meet them alone. However, it probably isn't unusual for them to withhold their name at this stage, as they may want to wait until they can inspect your Airstream before making a firm commitment.

809 Area Code

Watch out for this one

Dave

WARNING

Costly NEW AREA CODE:

809 Area Code
If you receive a call from the 809 area code.

The woman might say 'Hey, this is Karen.

Sorry I missed you- get back to us quickly.

I have something important to tell you.'

Then she rwill repeate a phone number beginning with809.

Do not respond.

Do Not DIAL AREA CODE 809, 284,

AND 876 from the U.S. or Canada .

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T EVER DIAL AREA CODE809

This one is being distributed all over the US ... This is pretty scary, especially given the way they try to get you to call.

They get you to call by telling you that it is information about a family member who has been ill or to tell you someone has been arrested, died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc..

In each case, you are told to call the 809number right away.

Since there are so many new area codes these days,

people unknowingly return these calls.

If you call from the U.S. or Canada ,you will apparently be charged a minimum of

$2425 per-minute.

And you'll also get a long recorded message.
The point is, they will try to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges.

WHY IT WORKS:

The 809area code is located in the Dominican Republic .
The charges afterward can become a real nightmare.

That's because you did actually make the call.

If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company.

You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong.

Send a message via Yahoo to Mikethefixit
Just an opinion RUN! If they call again HANG UP! IF it was the real deal they would not be afraid to tell you who they are and where they are.
This may be some kind of SCAMM>
GOOD LUCK

But, if he wants to buy your AS, wouldn't he have to produce ID at the DMV. I would never sell a vehicle without processing the sale and title through an auto tags agency. This will then relinquish you of any future liability.

Go with your gut instinct... any above board person wanting to buy your trailer should would be more open - shouldn't they be really excited and want you to know who they are and that they are a good "next owner" for your baby?

No flippers!

Not important but, a receipt is proof of where the money came from and ownership has changed. Just in case something unusual happens before the title is transferred, this is FL as you know. Jim

I don't trust anyone that will not look me in the eye and will not give me their name. Period.

I like the cash. I'd be skeptical of anybody who wanted to pay with a check. I don't want to deal with anybody requiring to be nameless. I can't see why a legitimate buyer'd demand to be anonymous.

Odds are, if it stinks . . . it's rotten.

I had a small pop up camper advertised on my Internet site. A guy I never heard of called me from three states away, and wanted to buy it sight unseen. He wanted to pay me immediately with a wire transfer and pick up the trailer in one week. I took the deal.

The wire transfer was good. The guy came on the day he promised. I liked him. He had me go through all the set up steps and he took the trailer and the title. I like cash better, but the wire transfer went okay. I accept wire transfers for new out of state tenants with no problems.
