Visit to France in our Globetrotter
Hello All, we are new to the forum. We have just come back from 2 wonderful weeks spent with Perry and Coline at Bel Repayre Aistream-Europe camping site - our first time in Europe with the 1964 Globetrotter and Dodge Ram 1500.
For those of you able to get to travel to Airstream Europe please do so!! We were made very welcome and met some fellow Airstreamers and spent the most memorable 2 weeks ever!
Perry and Coline have a beautiful site and what better way to get to know an Airstream for those who haven't quite taken the plunge as they have plenty of Airstreams to rent. Bel Repayre will certainly see us again next year ... we are already saving up the pennies!
We are very lucky to own an "all original" 1964 Globetrotter which we imported 2 years ago from the States. It certainly turn heads here in England!
Happy Airsteaming to all!

Hi and welcome. We have quite a few Globetrotter owners here and more is a good thing! Do you have trouble finding parts in the UK?

Hi
Parts in the UK are really difficult to locate so have to look to the States for those but touch wood... so far nothing has been needed.
Question: Can you Holiday with 7 dogs in a Globetrotter?
Answer: Yes, but certainly not recommended!

Let's compare!
Welcome from another '64 GlobeTrotter! I would love to see pics of your trailer and hear of your modifications required to make your GT function on the other side of the pond ~

Hi - I am new to this forum and find it difficult to get around! I don't know how to post photos at all??
A trip to see Perry at Airstream-Europe is highly recommended! He is planning a rally next year but firstly needs people to contact him and give their dates etc.
We have just purchased yet another Airstream from the States and hopefully ship it in the next few weeks.
We are still holding onto our gem of a Globe Trotter tho!
Happy airstreaming!

Hi Shari and Maxwell
Of course I would love to show you pictures of our Globetrotter but don't know how to do it! It looks like yours on the outside but is all original on the inside apart from a laminate floor and new covering on the couches.
It is a super little Airstream and it certainly caused a stir travelling through France! People were hanging out of cars with their mobile phones, trying to take photos!
How did you get yours so highly polished - unless it's the British climate - we just can't manage that on ours!
Nice to hear from you.

Another UK Airstream
There are an increasing number of us but not yet enough to get Airstream to set up a European branch of the club. How about UK owners getting together? I know four others.
We've been to Perry's trailer park at Belrepayre in the south of France 3 years in a row but not this year. We went to the very North of Scotland which was amazing. Probably back to Perry's next year first weekend in August for the festivities.
First two pictures are Ullapool, NW Scotland, second two are Belrepayre 2007 with a bit of Perry's circus comedy.

Parts in UK.
Almost forgot to mention getting parts to the UK. I can recommend Vintage Trailer Supply in Vermont, US. Friendly, good range of parts, well described, well packaged, quick, reasonable prices and fair shipping costs.
Airstream are not good for sending parts outside the US. A whole Airstream OK but a door mat for it ..... No better than a few other large companies I could name who think that putting a bigger postage stamp on the package is too much trouble.

If you have pictures filed on your computer you can post them here. Compose your message using the POST REPLY rather than the QUICK REPLY. Then look to the tool bar above your reply you should see a paper clip just to the right of the white face. Click on the paper clip. That will open a drop down page. At the top you will see lines titled Browse. Click on the first one and it will open the files in your computer. Search through your files till you find the picture you want to post. Double click on that picture and an address will fill into the Browse line. If you want to add a second picture go to the next line and repeat the selection until you have found that second picture.
If you have a picture management program try and reduce the size of your picture to about 450 by 350 pixels before posting them.

Hi to fellow UK Airstreamer. Agree with you, UK Airstream owners should get together - how about organising a rally during 2009?
A UK dealer imported our 2007 Classic Limited and 2008 Ford F350 p/up. Highly delighted with both apart fromk a few niggles.
We are full timers presently in Devon - John & Carole Stephenson

The rivets displayed are based on the number of posts that you make. It is explained here in the 16th post. The other posts are full of good information as well.

I am noticing more classifieds about vintage Airstreams being sold and shipped to Europe especially the UK. That just lit up a little light bulb in my cranium. Do you think it would be worth it to take a vintage Airstream to Europe for a nice long vacation and sell it on the other side of the pond when the trip is done? The big problem I see for me is the strong tendancy I have to become too emotionally attached to aluminum to sell it.

Lumatic - Vintage A/S Trip
Beware - if you tried to sell an Airstream in the UK, a lot of mods required to convert to our regulations, e.g. lights, brakes, 115 to 230 volt conversion, etc. Nothing over here will handle Airstream tongue weights except imported US vehicles.
If you make the trip, start saving for fuel - diesel over $7/US gallon!!!
