My dreamstream on its way across the pond the Australia!!

Just wanted to express my excitement, that after years of dreaming, searching, finding and buying, my 1960 Tradewind has left Seattle, headed for California to be shipped to me here in Melbourne, Australia! I am sooo looking forward to having it arrive here, and look forward to sharing the journey with those who are interested

What a journey! Has it already been restored or is this going to be your project? Congratulations!

Congratulations, great enthusiasm, sometimes we wonder how far were willing to go to look at one much less shipping it that far. Safe Journey for her and Happy Arrival.

Thanks everyone! It's an empty shell at the moment, apart from the original cupboards over where the dinette would have been. So my husband and I (and our 3 boys - 9, 6 and 16months) have plenty of work ahead of us, followed by lost of adventures! She'll be used as a shiny tent for the first few months I imagine while we figure out the layout etc. Shipping in a 40ft container from CA is roughly $6,000. I'll have a more accurate figure when it arrives as there will be destination charges as well. Basically the shipping is costing me nearly double what I paid for the trailer! There are dealers here in NSW, but only for new Airstreams, and limited models. We wanted something vintage, for more character and less cost Here's some other pics of her...Click image for larger version

How long should it take for her to reach you in Australia?

Hi Kathy and Oregon! It's been a long process for a few different reasons, but she's now at the shipping yard in CA ready to be loaded. Her journey will take 3 weeks, plus about 5 days in customs. Can't come quick enough!!

That's quicker than I would have expected! But I know it must seem too long for you! What a great project!

I feel your excitement, we bought a 2013 international Bambi whilst in the US in May, she arrived in NZ a month ago. Sadly a little damaged but in the process of repairs. Good luck with your renovations it will be an exciting project.

Hi Nugee! How exciting for you! She leaves on the 24th and expecting her mid nov. How did you ship yours, and what kind of damage did she endure? Nervous to say the least but hoping she makes it here unscathed!

Hi, she came on a 40ft flat rack. We think the damage was done here at the ports. Looks like a container has caught the right hand side. There are pics on my page. We were so excited and it just devastated us to see her like that. Been a bit of a drama finding someone who thinks they can do the repairs and arranging the parts from the US. She will get fixed tho and then we can enjoy our country. How is your being shipped?

Ours is coming in a container. The older ones aren't as wide so she fits in snugly and the build a console around to keep from moving. I was going to do RORO but the cost was a lot higher and I'd already gone over budget!

Much cheaper in a container and your lucky she fits. Flat racks are even more expensive. I'm sure she will be fine😄 looking forward to hearing when it arrives.

Thank you! I'm nervous to say the least, but fingers crossed she makes it across the ditch unscathed. It's been a long wait so I'll be glad when she finally arrives!

So my airstream is due to hit Australian land on Wednesday! Hopefully cleared by customs and ready to pick up Friday! Feeling like a kid at Christmas time! Can't wait to have the silver trailer in my rear view mirror
