How exciting....... She will look great behind your vehicle and then the experience of fixing her up. Good luck. We are hoping our parts will leave the states this week and hopefully will be all good to go just after Xmas. Yay

Thank you Sbb! It just so happens I have a very handy husband who is a boilermaker/weld specialist! Perfect for airstream repairs and he's actually worked on two over here already. Check out Airstream Family and Happy Camper Pizza on Facebook. He repaired some rear end sag on their 28ft, and built gas bottle holders and other stuff on the pizza van. It's great to share the excitement and dare I say "journey" with like minded people! xx

Yes, but the world will gain one more loved and restored one. Look forward to following your journey. :-)

Oh it's excruciating! She's been delayed again!! I was hoping for a phone call this morning to pick her up, now it will be mid next week due to the placement of the container!! My husband goes back to work on Tuesday, and can't get time off, I fly to Sydney for two nights on Wednesday, so I have NO idea how I'm going to get her the 2.5 hours home!! I had it all planned around work but it's gone pear-shaped! 😁 Trusting it will all work out...

I wonder if there are any trustworthy blokes or Sheila's who might tag along with you to retrieve your fine Airstream? If this coming week were not Thanksgiving here in the US, I would offer to let you fly my wife and me over. See how helpful we are in this forum???

Seriously .... Hope your wait goes quickly....

Haha, that is so generous of you!! I wish I'd thought of it! Surely the airfares would be cheaper than a flatbed? I had thought of finding a Shazza, Dazza or Bazza who could come along with me...would prefer hubby tho. Will keep you posted!

Just found your thread--congratulations! The outer skins of your baby look terrific. I was so hoping that by your last post, you would have her, but no such luck.

Aluminum tents are great, until you get the inside fixed up, just go out and have a good time with her. That will also help you decide how you want the inside to look, and give you a good idea of relative sizes/space inside that you have to work with.

Great find! And shipping it home--wow--good on ya!

Wonderful thread and really looking forward to seeing pictures of her arrival.
I have often wondered what type if costs one goes through to ship an AS over as I have often dreamed of doing it, using it while there on holiday and then selling it when one was done.

It would be interesting to get people's views on this.....
Thanks

Doug

If you get stuck I can come and help (you don't need to worry about flight costs though, relax). I'm even good mid winter icy roads. Easy. Fun. Hope hubbies plans alter tho so you can both go tho you'll have tones of time together in it starting pretty soon.
Re the delay better incident free and late. So sorry it's mucked up the plans though.
x

Melissa, we're heading into Summer here! And even in winter we don't get snow like you guys!! We have to go looking for it! So the plan is, head to Melbourne next Sunday night, hubby has the Monday off to have his tax done and they we'll pick up the airstream after the accountants appt. so another week but I've been waiting since may so I'll sure I'll survive!
