Truck cargo slide out

We just purchased a 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie crew cab diesel truck to pull our International 28. We are looking for recommendations for a truck bed pull out to make loading/unloading a little easier.

Many thanks!

Some people opt for caps with side access. When you are hitched, you might not be able to drop the tailgate.

Not here yet

The local LEER cap dealer recommended the Cargoglide version rather than the Bedslide. He sells both, but for our application of relatively light weight and the fact that we had already plunked-down a wad of cash on the topper, he said the Cargoglide 1000 was the ticket and he had good experience with them.

Will be installed later this month.

We've had ARE bed caps with lift side windows on our last two RAMs. Makes access easy, hooked up or not.

I have a cap with opening side windows. Under the windows I put boards creating a large shelf across bed. Everything on that shelf is accessible from the side windows. In the bed I put a bed slide. So I can pull it out and get whatever I need out of there. It’s working very well for me. I have two separate storage areas without a huge pile of stuff to go through every time I want something.

Google "decked". They have a tough looking drawer system that is supposed to be water proof if you don't have a topper.

We have a Leer cap with a Cargo Glode1000. Used to have a bakflip hard tonneau but needed more space for long trips. Cargo glide works great. Only issue is I had to remove my in bed crane and haven’t figured out a solution to lift our 3000 Watt generator yet. Our dealer sold both bed slide and cargo glide and recommended the cargo glide. Recently bought extra tie downs for it.

Got my drawers, cargo slide and leer topper installed today. Initial impression is all is well built and thought out.

Positives & Negatives based on initial loading and organizing.

+ Access to front of bed area is much easier
- neither pulls out all the way so for items loaded at the very front you still need to get up there and crawl/shimmy. In my case it’s the two generators which are now secured in place.

+ drawers make it easy to get to stuff you’ll use more often
- when open there’s about 24” still under the deck, not easy to access, choose to stow longer items back there

+ cargo slide offers very flexible tie down options.

+ Leer cap is very solid and color match is great.
-wish the windows were a bit darker.. going to rig some curtains

Overall happy I did it, but note you do sacrifice some storage with the drawers as there is framing around them which is a downside, upside is I don’t have to handle as many storage containers and stack them.

We have a BEDSLIDE and we sure do LOVE it! It is the only thing that makes our eight foot bed work. We both have knee issues and we could never crawl in and out of that truck bed without getting hobbled.....

BedSlide

Our BedSlide works great. With the WD hitch the tailgate clears and folds down no problem, we have a half depth shelf above the BedSlide for extra storage, but it is very handy as you suspect for unloading and access to anything inside. In my opinion much better than simply having tilt up windows on the side of the cap.

I love the concept of the slide out.
My concerns would be, there's still storage in front of the wheel wells that's inaccessible. And how much does it weigh? I'm sure us 1/2 ton owners can't afford loss of payload. I'd want one that slides 100% out (double rollers?) Looks like Leer and others have this feature available.

I bought a "pickup pack" from Highway Products (https://www.highwayproducts.com/c/tr...p/pickup-pack/) and one of their 2000 lb. bedrollers for my Ram3500. Very pleased with the combo - a place for everything and everything in its place. Click on "Images" link beneath my avatar for photos of how I configured my combo...

I'd be interested to see that but I didn't see a way to do that when I clicked on your avatar.

I envision the generator secured to the end of the bed slide. Then, just pull it out a few feet and fire it up! Close the topper for (some) security. (I picture a panel to close off the back of the truck when the tailgate is down, thus keeping curious eyes out.)
