Red face Reliable transport company from sc to az

Greetings! Well we jumped in a bought a 1973 31ft Airstream Excella 500 on Ebay. We didnt think we would win the bid so the thought of getting it from Columbia, SC to Phoenix, AZ didnt seem to be a big deal. Well...as it turns out...it is. If anyone knows a reliable and reasonably priced transport company I would be so grateful. We rae not in a hurry as the seller has offered to hold onto it for us for the time being. However we would like it here by Christmas so we can work on it over the holiday break. It is then going to Las Vegas for my husband to stay in during the week as he is currently employed there. I have advertised in Craigslist in Columbia to see if anyone is just coming this way with a truck and would like their gas paid for. We would appreciate any suggestions or contacts or general help. Thanks in advance of your reply

This problem arises regularly. Finding a kind soul who will tow it for gas money is a long shot. Professionals are pricey (understandably so considering fuel cost and liability).

A big problem, considering that you haven't actually seen the rig, is the condition of the trailers running gear. Are the tires decent? Do the brakes work? Lights? Is it road ready? A lot of sellers advertise that to be the case but such claims need to be taken with a grain of salt...

You may find yourself headed for the coast. Despite the time investment, it is by far the most economical way to go.

A lot of responsibility for gas money

Two easy choices rent a suv or truck locally with unlimited mileage for a week and do it or fly in get a uhaul truck and drive it back in two days if you don't have problems with tires, axles, etc, etc. at least as owner you will be able to sign for repairs. Make sure your good sam road service is paid up

Thumbs up Yeh!

Yeh! One of the referrals I had from one of your members was also one of the companies I was looking at. I ended up telling them how much I would pay and they said yes. I am happy to say the Airstream is being picked up in SC today and delivered in AZ who knows when. Thanks for the support and help.

Hello Airstreamers! I am new to this site & looking to buy a 30-34' trailer ASAP, currently living in Arizona but will be returning to Central California in a few months. I have NO idea how to locate a pro to tow the trailer from point A to B once I find it. Can anyone please tell me specifics on how to find such a person/company? I will need to keep the cost as low as possible, but certainly fair. Is there a specific place on this site for such listings? Haven't found one so far, but still looking...Thanks!!
