In France now... and it appear to be Airstream free :(

All--

Just happened to be in France for a vacation right now and with August being the "holiday" month... there is very high ration of caravans (what us Yanks would call trailers) to cars on the road. I've been checking the local RV parks as we go by and a crude tally of on-road trailers... and while their are *lots* of SOBs (I've seen several hundreds) ... there have been zero Airsteams (or any other shiny aluminum varient) to date.

With the popularity of caravans in France and French obsession with style, I'm surprised there has not been an invasion of the mighty Airstream. Now I'm sure there is some import restriction of or somthing to make it more complicated... but it is a shame.

Glad to know that RVing does not actually die at $10/gallon.

Maybe you could pm bruno, I'm sure he'll let you look at his Airstream if you are suffering withdrawals...

Yes... RV'in in France seems alive and well. Besides... its "only" about $8.25 USD. Ouch.

With the cost of gas in France (and most of Europe) being ~70% taxes... having the base crude go up... only affects about 30% of the price.

Burno--

No, unfortunately... I'm not the Ron you met before.

I left Brest on Friday and am now in Lyons-la-foret... but spend the day in Rouen and Dieppe. So I'm about 750Km inconviently located to the north of you.

I have a 75 23' Safari... that I've owned for about 6 weeks. I have now got it 98% Silicone free (Woo-hoo!!) and all start the clear coat stripping process when I get home on Wednesday.

Have fun with the few Airstream in France... the locals should be drooling over it.
