Missing Airstream – Help needed
All,
I want to appeal to the community. I became a proud airstream owner in January of 2013, a 1986 Airstream
Sovereign 27ft. I bought in the U.S. and had it shipped to home via the U.K. where I picked it up and towed it back to Ireland.
To make a Long Story short a year later we decided to move o the USA full time, so we sold up our lives for the international move. We had many of our possessions shipped and I engaged a rouge shipping agent unknowingly. He had credentials on the face of it but is in fact a con-man who had specialised in taking vehicles and machinery out of the distressed economy In Ireland to mainland Europe where he offers to sell them for a fee then pockets the entire sale for himself claiming to be the victim of a subsequent theft himself when he collects the payment. Never trust a middleman.
We have many of our belongings back at this point - some damaged and we are involved with the international authorities trying to locate my airstream and another American tow vehicle. This is proving to be an extremely frustrating process and it seems that there is little I can do. I believe the airstream has been illegally sold, and likely in Germany. This means that someone else is a victim of this man’s crimes and the title of the unit is still here with me.
I have attached a picture of the unit taken in the summer of 2013 on holiday in France.
Has anyone seen it ? – It is in good, not excellent condition, is missing the original fridge – has a minor dent repaired on the upper right corner and has the original interior for the most part. Some minor dings to the underbelly but nothing major. It is a twin rear bed model with a side bathroom.
Has anybody seen it out there ? I know fans never miss one – there ae not too many around and it is likely static with the lack of legal title to register it.
I am appealing to the community for help in locating it. I am trying to hold this man to account for his crime but it is almost impossible and it seems the victims have to do all the work themselves. I will provide the VIN to anyone who may have seen it.
If you can help me unravel this – I can certainly reciprocate and someone deserves that trailer legally back home in Europe.
Here's hoping...
Tom
