Bike rack

I am interested in bringing bikes with me on my trips. We already have a very pricy bike rack that fits in a truck hitch. We are towing our 22 foot 2006 Safari with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, so no room for bikes in the Jeep. I read an older forum about no no never put a hitch receiver on the back of the Airstream, or any weight at all, but that being said, Airstream themselves sells a bike rack for the back. My problem is that 1. It costs nearly a grand to buy and install 2. It only fits two bikes. Anybody looked further into this?
