25' FB remodel

I have a 25' FB with twins. Loved the floor plan when we bought it. After a while we found the side couch a bit uncomfortable. It was to high to relax in and the dinette cramped. So with that in mind, we lowered the side couch by 3 inches and removed the entire rear dinette and replaced it with a full rear goucho couch. We plan on using some nice TV trays for eating and playing cards. It makes the trailer more open and can have a lot room for people inside, comfortably. and more storage. It is now more like my parents 25' caravaner AKA the party trailer! But has nice beds.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

We also have a 25FB, 2005. We have also considered rearranging the dinette are into something more comfortable. We were thinking about chairs at the back window. I would like to know how you handled the furnace issue in your remodel. We are always looking for new ideas. Can't wait to see the pictures.

The furnace issue worked out quite well. The unit is located just behind the wheel well, under the couch. When you remove the seat support with the heat duct inside, cut the hose almost flush to the furnace and make a little piece of plywood to cover the end. Then reinstall the register. It heats better since you remove 4' of pipe. We took the trailer out last weekend and used two lawn chairs in the back and a tv tray table between them. It worked very nice nice. I almost considered just leaving it that way, but built a couch the next day. Now we are just waiting for the upholstery to finish the job. One thing for sure, it really opens up the trailer!

Looks great! Do the wooden armrests open for storage? The wood is beautiful.

Yes they open, but due to the contour of the trailer the storage is not that big. I originally tried to make them open from the top but it did not look right. The cabinet door on the left on the bottom does not open because there is not enough room for the door to open.

the material in the doors in the lower panels is chair caning material bought from woodcraft. Looks pretty cool.

That is very nice. I like the extra room. Does the heat come out between the lounges now?

Thanks, Yes the heat comes out through a register in between. It heats the back of the trailer much better because it does not go through 4'-5' of hose and then get trapped under the dinette.

Looks very nice. The armrests on the 70's models opened from the top. It's interesting to see that Airstream kind of remembered the motto, "Don't make changes, make things better".

Your remodel looks great. We also have a 25'fb and find the dinette uncomfortable for TV viewing but we don't want to lose the table. We've been thinking of removing the curbside (smaller) couch & replacing it with a small euro style recliner. We thought we could replace the table with a drop leaf version and keep all the pcs so we could un-do the re-do when necessary. Any ideas on this??

Once you remove the side couch, the under side of it is the furnace and the wheel well, and a bunch of wiring. I do not think any thing is feasable in that spot except for a couch. The issue of a table will be replaced with some nice TV tables we bought from Bi-Mart. They look good and were only 44.99. They store nicely behind the back of the rear couch that is hinged for storage. I took one of the tables and cut it down to coffee table height for a relaxed table to play cards and hold our favorite beverage.

I think we will enjoy the change.

I'm talking about the smaller couch next to the door. I think the only thing behind there is the stereo speaker??? (although I will have to find new homes for the many things in that lovely big drawer!)
