Newbie with a Question

We are getting close to pulling the trigger on an Airstream 25 FB but have a question. We really like the Safari SE models but I am looking at one that is advertised as a 25 FB LS. It looks like the SE with aluminum skin inside, panoramic windows front and rear and the LCD TV mounted inside.

Help, what is the LS all about? Thanks

My version.

Hi, I'm not sure, but some one who knows better will chime in. My understanding is that "LS" means Limited Series and "SE" means Special Edition. And they are both the same except that "LS" was the original designation and later it was rebadged "SE".

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

First off, welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

We have a 2005 Safari 25FB LS. It does not have panoramic windows or aluminum interior. It does have the audio/video package (television and DVD/CD player) and the black tank rinse system. This FB was one of the first ever made with a rear hinged door.

I hope this helps you.

Moosetags, now I am officially confused. We have been looking at the Airstream 25FB floorplan for a long time and have been in the Safari SE model. This is the one for us, no doubt.

We love the big windows and the aluminum interior and the one we are currently looking at via the internet has all of that. My confusion is in the seller's description of it as an LS model. I have a couple of brochures from 2006 and none of them even mention an LS version. So, is there an LS version? When did they first appear and what is special about the LS?

The trailer is about 7 hours away and I will be talking to the seller before too long. I just thought I would try for a quick answer here so that I might be better prepared when I do.

Thanks for the help.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

I dug out Lucy's original paperwork and found a listing of the options included in the LS package. This is from Lucy's 2005 invoice.

Safari LS Option Package

- Spare tire
- Fantastic Fan (living room)
- No Fuss Flush black tank rinsing system
- Aquajet water pump
- Cast taillights (International type)
- Electric hitch jack
- 13,500 BTU air conditioning with heat pump
- Airstream jackets & caps (2 each)
- Moen Pure Touch filtering kitchen faucet
- Screen door guard
- LS graphics

The LS package included a lot more than I had remembered. Almost everything on this list, I would not want to do without. At that time, the invoice cost of the LS Package was $2214.00

Keep in mind that Lucy is a 2005 model year 25FB. This was the first model of any FB, and Lucy is one of the first dozen or so produced. Lucy has rear hinged (suicide) door.

I have also posted a few pictures of Lucy. I hope that this information helps.

Brian

Thanks Brian and Bob. This is making more sense to me now. The one I am looking at (from pictures) looks like an SE. It has some of the more important features we are looking for like the wrap around windows and the small horizontal windows above the regular ones on the side. I suppose I can always add a fantastic fan later but this unit does have the power tongue jack. Don't they all?

We will drive down in a couple of weeks. I hope this all works out. I will let you know.

Thanks again,

Dick
