WiFi Signal Booster

Need help with finding a way to boost the WiFi signal at campgrounds. WiFi repeater? Don't want the expense right now of a we Boost cell phone signal booster. Have Verizon, but the signal is not strong enough to use hotspot. Really wish campgrounds were realistic and honest in stating they have WiFii -usually only near the office where the modern and router are located.

We followed the tutorial link below and created our own NanoStation WiFi range extender/booster/repeater. We have been really really really happy with the results.

We also use a Wfi Ranger but there are other options out there. Checkout the RV Mobile Internet Resource Center.

All that being said we only find useful WFi at a tiny fraction of the RV parks we visit. It’s normally too congested. Try getting on the campground WiFi at the office and see if it’s usable.

We find using cellular internet a much more satisfying experience. If you don’t want to go the full Weboost route, you can consider a hotspot with an external antenna.

We’ve found campground wi-fi so slow even when the signal was strong that we no longer even try to use it unless we are at a very high-end RV Park where prices demand that wi-fi must work. A cell booster will be more productive in my opinion. We haven’t done this yet but its somewhere in our future.

90+ percent of the time, campground WiFi is worse than useless. Don't waste your money boosting something that mostly won't be worth using anyway. Focus on cellular data. It's more expensive than using the campground's WiFi, but it stands a better chance of working.

There are a quite a few threads the deal with WiFi and Cell service boosting. Here are a few to get you started. I think you will find WiFi Ranger products are good to boost a WiFi signal and WeBoost product are very popular for cell service boosting. Both have option designed for the RV market.

I find the cell boost works for me. The WiFi boost is very dependent on the internet bandwidth the provider is supplying. For example you can boost the heck out of a poor WiFi signal and get great WiFi to the provider/RV park, camp ground, etc. But if they have limited bandwidth from there internet provider and a few people get on line and start streaming video, etc. you still get interrupted service. No fault of the booster just not enough bandwidth. That is why I prefer to boost my cell signal and use that to stream or work on line. It is more expensive but worth it to me.
