TV Antenna from '84: Salvage, repair, or dispose?

My '84 Excella 31 has a Braund Super Skyliner roof TV antenna that was put on at the time it was sold originally. It worked years ago when we would watch TV channels but I know times have changed for A/V equipment. I can get it to rotate but it doesn't want to raise. Before I spend a lot more time tinkering with it and looking for parts (like trying to fix an 8-track tape player...I know I'm dating myself now) trying to get it to rotate/raise/lower I'm wondering if it's better to remove it and offer it up to those vintage renovators or just dispose of it. I still don't watch a lot of TV and I'm not considering jumping right into a satellite dish either. Any advice?

That antenna is probably not worth salvaging. I just recently disposed of mine, which was not working well. I use a much smaller UHF TV antenna, which I mount on the rear bumper of my 73 Argosy. Amazed at how much better my reception is. BTW, all TV stations are now on UHF channels.

Don't waste time, energy, your neck on old antenna. Replace it. Don't fall for marketing folks wanting premium $$ for special antenna. I use a Winegard Batwing with their sensar booster. love it. Was camping last week watching tv from 60 mi from antenna. I would recommend getting the Winegard antenna pointer App easy to use and accurate.

Agree with Heslinhotel on this one. Today's digital OTA signal are still broadcast on UHF with some on VHF https://www.otadtv.com/. I replaced our original antenna (1988) with a newer wineguard. No issues.

Thanks for that input. Now I need to see about how to remove old & replace with new. Never fond of opening up holes in the roof.
