Storing your Starlink antenna when traveling
The Starlink (v2) antenna is not the most compact piece of electronic equipment, so where and how do you securely store yours when you are traveling, or when you are not setting it up at a campsite?

Hi
Option one: Get a Starlink Mini ....
Next option: It goes in the aisle of the van or trailer. When you "get there" you pull it out and set it up.
Option three: If we're talking about a trailer, it lies flat in the bed of the truck (on top of all the other stuff back there).
My choice is option one

I purchased the Starlink Travel Case and carry in the back of the TV.
The v2 case is now discounted.

Hi
There are cases designed for carrying computer monitors. We have one for our V3. I'm not at all sure the exact one we have would work for the V2. I'd bet there's something similar out there:
This is what we have:

I kept the cardboard inserts from the original box and made it fit within an airtight tote that takes up less room than the original box. It can be stashed wherever while traveling and I usually throw it under the RV when at camp and the dish is deployed.

I use the tote from Home Depot that is in this video. My Starlink didn't have the plastic insert he shows, but it came with a cardboard insert that I cut up to fit. I also put a square piece of dense foam on the bottom so dishy can lay flat on it.

Starlink Storage
+1 on the tote. Got one like the guy in the video at HDepot; about $30. Dish, stand, modem, w/2 cables fits great. Travels on the floor, between the wall and bed on our FBQ where it can stay out of trouble. Throw a blanket over it to prevent it from abrading the wall any.

I did a very similar thing (as shown in that video) re-using the plastic that the starlink was shipped with, but I used the black/yellow 17 gal tote from Home Depot, less $$ for the tote and slightly more room for cables, foam cushion/buffer, etc.

Gen 3 mobile
I use a SL Gen 3 Mobile antenna. It’s mounted to my tonneau using a Trio flat mount bracket. The system is powered by a Jackery system and recharged w solar or from the truck’s 12v system.
No stowage… no setup… usable while driving for my wife’s video hobby.

Why stow it? You are paying for it, so why not use it? We bought a magnetic mount for the roof of our tow vehicle and WiFi the signal towards the trailer. No daily setup and take down. Plus we have internet while driving remote areas. I wired in a $50 pure sine wave inverter and have used it all over the US, Canada, and Alaska.

I put mine (v2) in store mode and it goes either under the bed between foam pads, or on top of the bed.
I prefer to save battery (400 Ah lithium/580 watts solar), by not running the inverter just to run starlink.
Here are the links to the parts. I spent about $100 doing this so far.
DC 12V Step Up to 48V 6A Boost Converter 288W DC Voltage Regulator
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B7WZGCM3...t_details&th=1
150W GigE Passive PoE Injector with Surge Protection, Developed for Starlink pinout.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BX74T2T5...roduct_details
Dishy Cable Adapter to RJ45. Connect Your Dishy V2 to PoE Injector
https://www.amazon.com/YAOSHENG-Rect...sr=1-1-catcorr
I converted to POE with and boost 12V to 48V to power that. No need to follow any internet or youtube threads that tell you to rewire your dishy to accept POE, just use the adapter. Doing this removes the starlink router from the equation, so I pass the signal to a pepwave router and have rapid failover to my hotspot.
My dish is currently on a flagpole, but am about to spit is to either external or roof mount (switched). When running on the roof, in motion, I'll be setting the dish to horizontal. Your starlink account needs allow roaming for this option to be available in the starlink app. The stationary residential account doesn't have this option the last time I checked.
I'll be getting another Dishy Cable Adapter to RJ45 a switch and will replace the TV coax inlet in with a combo coax/ethernet inlet

I have the Gen3. I just kept the original box it came in. I found a waterproof container at “The Container Store” that it fits right in. I keep it as the last thing in my covered truck bed.
When I want to use it, I pull my cables out of my front storage compartment / pull the dish out of the box / connect the cables / and place the dish where it will receive the signal.

I bought the carrying case and just throw it into the truck bed on travel days. It actually came with back packing straps so I bungee cord it to the tool box.
