RV OUTDOORS security system

Looks like we need a Security forum,so I will post here .Does anyone know of a OUTDOORS security system motion detector with siren that is self powerd? That WORKS. I want to know when someone is stealing my Honda 2000 generator BEFORE they cut the alarm-it cable. All systems seem to deal with the problem after someone is already inside your RV or the cable is cut and the alarm goes off.I want to them before the damage is done.I also have mouted the generator to a plate and park the trailer tire on that. But they still try.

Good question

Friend jimmini,

I have tried dog Walker and a pistol. It works if we both stay awake, otherwise we hope someone has a solution...

PS. see you two new years

I have something like this - bought it at Lowes. You can place the sensor where you want and plug in a light or buzzer inside the cabin.

Scott,

That unit looks good, but It does not look to be self contained..ie needs to be plugged into power to alarm. Looking for something that works in the boondocks.
Thanks,

John

Jimmini, skyvalley,

Jeez, do I understand correctly that you've had people trying to steal your trailers while they were in use? Or is it the generators they are trying to steal?

Tell us more.

It is the Honda 2000 generator they want.Had 2 tries in Sept to get generator one time worked , wife also had shopping cart stolen in Flagstaff AZ after she paid,But store replaced all items. So not a good month. Now mounted new generator on plate and park trailer tire on it ,also has Alarm-it cable on it but all this only works after the fact.I Want to them an stop them before they can even get near trailer. This stealing of Generator is getting bigger as more of the quite type are being used. They now using big cable cutter so cables, chains and locks are quick to cut.

You probably want "The Reporter" then, the sensors are 120 degree and you can use up to four of them.

John, Jimmini, looks like it will take 12vdc power with internal battery backup. Also has 10amp relay connector to hook up an external 12v light or buzzer of your choice.

Heck, I'm off to Radio Shack :-)

That pic is the back of the wireless reciever for the Reporter. It runs about $70 with one wireless motion detector (120 degrees field of vision). Looks like whole thing can be run on batteries. It has in internal buzzer and, contacts that can also turn on an external light or alarm.

RadioShack.com - Home & Office: Home security & safety: Home security systems: The Reporter Expandable Wireless Alert System
or
Reporter Wireless Driveway Alert System

Extra remote motion detectors are about $50.

With a 1200 foot range on those sensors you could be out on the lawn chair, ready to greet them, Jimmini!

Arizona and California .But stealing of the quiet type Generators like Honda 2000 is on the rise in all the west.Do not know about the rest of U.S.
There are a lot of people out there that are willing to buy "USED GENERATORS". Many of the them not used by the seller.
If you notice more and more campgrounds are posting notices about this problem to warn you to take care of you generator.

Rivet Security System

Hi Jimmini,

Check out The Revolutionary Security System :: Videofied Manufactured by RSIalarm. They have a very interesting product that includes a true security system. An option is to have a mpeg of the scene emailed to the owner and the local police depart upon activation of the alarm.
