recalls and only recalls....

a recall was announced this week of counterfeit circuit breakers bearing the square D label...

the bogus breakers are a fire risk...

connecticut-elelctric and the cpsc have issued statements detailing this issue.

there are toll free phone contacts included in these releases as well.

http://www.connecticut-electric.com/...itbreakers.pdf

Connecticut Electric Recalls Counterfeit Square D Circuit Breakers Due To Fire Hazard

somewhat confusing, connecticut-electric IS now an INDIANA company with a puyallup, washington distribution center.

the breakers were apparently manufactured in china and distributed from the washington location.

these are apparently breakers sold in hardware stores across the land and the recalled models/serial numbers are LISTED IN THE ABOVE LINKs...

the counterfeit breakers apparently are LABELED DIFFERENTLY than genuine square D breakers...

and this is a DIFFERENT RECALL than the dec/2006 squareD recall for 240VOLT breakers...

anyone who has purchased a spare or replaced a breaker should check them with the list...

in fact those of us with new trailers built during this period (feb/2005-aug/2006) should also check them against the list...

this have been an airforums vigilant pirate's service announcement....

ok, now for a suggestion and brief editorial...

i'd like to see a forum heading RECALLS and NOTHING BUT RECALLS...

this could be a real service to us, and by us, for us and from us....

no nation bashing, no company bashing, no product bashing, no bashing period....

just the recalls as we find them and very specific details and links...

like the "in the news section" new threads/posts could be screened for content and relevance (i.e. snow making equipment recalls aren't relevant)

before the recall goes up.

yes i know the cpsc has a web site and we could all visit it daily...

that's not the idea.

also it's somewhat difficult to decide which forum sometimes for specific recall items, when posting or searching....

so it would be nice for us a/s folks to have ONE SPOT to check and without reading the clapcrapchat....

i was hesitant to post this recall info exactly BECAUSE of not wanting to have credit for any (non a/s) bashing threads...

with a forum heading like RECALLS AND NOTHING BUT RECALLS....

this thread would be titled "square D counterfeit circuit breaker recall" clean and simple.

so folks, check those breakers and mods/admins/owners, consider the idea...

and feel free to delete my comments unrelated to the actual recall...

and ne1 else's too!

cheers

My trailer was built during the period of the recall. I had a look at my breakers. Two are suspect. I guess I am going to have to pull them and check the rest of the description.

Well I got an email from Square D today. THey do not beleive any of the suspect breakers were sold directly to the RV industry. So unless you added them to your RV your should be ok.

I found this recall (see images) attached to a small bottle of LPG. I doubt there are many of these heaters left out there, but ya never know.
