exterior camera security options
any thoughts on exterior camera security options? i was talking with my son-in-law and he is concerned for my safety out on the road alone (haha). i was wondering what options there might be without making screw holes in the exterior for wires, etc.

So, we bought some ring outdoor cameras battery operated, I have had them and never felt the need to deploy them. You need internet if you are going to depend on them, I was just going to stick them on the roof of the AS or Truck if I felt the need. I would not permanently attach them. I have yet to feel unsafe enough to bother.

Thank you
Not so much worried for safety but there have been times when the resort staff did damage to my stuff and I had no recourse. It would be nice to have proof.

Few options - first off, you do not need internet for many systems out there. For instance, if you are parked and have ground power - no reason you can not run an NVR (and record) video from any angle of your RV. Granted, you can not see the images live on the internet with out internet access, you do at least have solid recordings of the goings on.
A camera internally would be as simple as an NVR (with or with out PoE) and a camera. The exterior could be one of many options from a simple vandal proof dome (that would also be wind resistant, or at least as wind resistant as the other things bolted to our RV's).
The NVR could be hidden in a number of places, does not take up too much room and hardly any voltage.

Just a thought: Many trailers have a camera at the rear, powered by the marker lights. If that camera (or a replacement) is capable of recording, you have one area covered. The marker lights have to be on, but a jumper fuse in the umbilical cord will get that.

I got a camera system that does not have to have Internet to work. It is a Reolink. Some features work with Internet and some do not. What you need, monitoring, does. It saves it to a memory card. See the chart on what will work with Internet and what works with local LAN only no Internet. The battery ones also have a solar option and some can be clipped on, screwed on, stuck on, etc.
Here is the one I purchased:

The issue with the Reolink (or any of the battery systems) is the number of points of failure. Plus, we have seen first hand that the first thing a "bad guy" does is run off with the camera.
I really think that just having a system in view prevents a ton of potential crime. That said, for one cam (say, on the Pass side, under the awning - well, on my RV) it would be visible and potential offenders do not know it is recording or not. I could easily fit the NVR into any of my storage cabinets, or under the seats on the bathroom side. As long an ground (or Genny) power was on, the system would be recording. Visibility can be a simple HDMI cable to any of the televisions.

im getting this. No holes drilled, easy, plug into an outlet. takes a memory card so you can download & playback recording at a later time. Mounts onto any interior window https://a.co/d/is9KtXz

If the goal is deterrence, then attaching a non-working "fake" camera in an obvious location would be easy. A random example which could be secured with non-marring tape or something. No power, or network required.

Exterior cameras
So not just interested in deterrence. I want to be sure that my Airstream is safe when I am away from her. That said - I would rather not drill holes in her so looking for something that sticks to her or that I can put inside the windows (stick on them) I would like WIRELESS as well - so has a battery because I don't like wires running all over the place. I saw the GARMIN videos - Not sure if they can be used on the OUTSIDE of the Airstream and there is a wire that has to be plugged in. I love GARMIN but don't think it is the answer in this case. Thank you all for comments. I am still figuring it out.

I replaced the rear camera that came with my 2022 AS GT 25RB with a REOLINK 4K PoE Security Camera System. This camera is connected via ethernet to my Peplink router in the Airstream. While the camera is an excellent backup camera with a full 180 degree 4K field of view, it is also an internet based security camera. So long as the trailer has 12 volt power this camera can viewed in 4K anywhere you have an internet connection.
While in motion the camera captures continuous 4K video to an SD card. Here is a clip from a trip last weekend in the Page, Arizona area demonstrating the quality of the video from this "Back Up" camera.
