Thumbs up Datron satellite

Looking at an ad for a Datron satellite system. Owner says datron only makes military equipment now w/ little support. Once upon a time was the sought after equipment by RV enthusiasts. Can anyone help me here? Successes? This unit is new in the box, do not want to buy if it does not work.

Y'all are the bomb!

I don't work on satellite systems due to the poor/non-existent factory support that is currently out there. I have lots of requests to do so, but there are so many systems that one person just can't be well versed on them all....and the manufacturers don't help at all either.

I would stay away from this......regardless of the cost if they :

1. are no longer in production
2. no factory tech support is available
3. no factory authorized installers are available.

Satellites are a breed to themselves and unless you are very well versed in electro mechanics and electronics, they are really not a DIY item.

Never heard of Datron. I agree with Lew. if you haven't heard of 'em , offer no support, etc,.....avoid them like the plague! I'd stick with a well known brand. It may cost a little more on the front end, but in the end, will save you a lot of $$ and heartburn. FWIW.
