Backup camera extension antenna

Factory-installed Voyager backup camera on 2016 FC 25 stopped working this year. Extension antenna on front of trailer severely deteriorating (firmed up with some electrical tape last year). Wondering 1) how antenna can be removed (unscrew just above metal roof attachment?), and 2) if there is a replacement part. Can't seem to find it anywhere on the Internet.

That’s not an extension antenna for your backup camera, that’s an AM/FM radio antenna. The only extension antennas for the Voyager camera are an after-market purchase from the manufacturer, and the cable from the camera to the antenna runs along the outside of the trailer, on the roof. It’s a very easy DIY installation (although you could probably pay a dealer to do it for a lot of money if you really want to give away your money).

I replaced my am/fm antenna with one from AutoZone. It came with numerous adapters, which I didn't need. The rear view camera, if it's like mine, gets its power from the center marker lights. I've seen other posts where the camera can fill up with water. Good luck with it and I hope it's a simple fix..

Thanks for the clarification! Radio works fine so I guess I'll live with it a while longer. As for the backup camera I guess I have some more investigating to do. Thanks again.

Let me know if you find a replacement that works. I have the exact same issue and just did the electrical tape wrap. I would have expected it to last longer than 4-5 years especially when the trailer is kept under cover and out of the sun. Glad to know it’s just AM/FM as I thought it was voyager backup as well.

Maybe some large diameter heat shrink would help

nut comes loose

The nut the holds the antenna connector in the camera comes loose then water runs down inside. How would I know this. I check that nut now every trip out and apply some silicone around it.

That's the radio antenna. Mine broke off too. I didn't want to replace the part sealed to the roof, so I took the screw out of the 'tilt' adjustment, bought another antenna on Amazon and I was done. I spent more time worrying about denting the roof than I spent changing the antenna.

Voyager Backup Camera

We have the factory installed Voyager backup camera installed on our 2018 FC 23FB. The quality of the video on the monitor is bad. Is there a way to improve the resolution?

I found the reception on my 30ft trailer to be quite bad, the connection would go out if I made any turns, that's how borderline it was. Also the resolution wasn't good and I had a giant screen stuck in the middle of my windshield. I replaced it with an OEM Ford trailer camera which is hard wired and I can see a clear, consistent image right on my 12" truck infotainment screen.
