Antenna Removal & Replacement with Cell/Wifi Antenna

Has anyone just completely removed the HDTV Antenna? We have no use for it.

I haven't had cable TV since 2006 and since then I've never once stopped to try to get over the air TV either. We just don't watch TV. The most we do is Netflix & iTunes.

I'm also thinking of removing it and using the mast for a cell phone booster and wifiranger antenna's alike.

Just wondering if anyone has done a similar setup they could share some details about. If you mounted additional antennas.

I like the idea of raising my cell antenna for that extra height rather than just mounting it flush on the roof.

I've never used ours for TV reception either! i'm sure that the mast could readily be used for alternative antennae. Or it can be removed entirely to open up space for additional solar panels.

There have been past posts where folks have done what you thinking about. Just need to open up holes to get the appropriate cables through. Take a look at the recent posts on WiFi in campgrounds. I've got a WifiRanger and Boost and haven't used it in a year. Use my Verizon HotSpot. Campgrounds advertising WiFi is pretty much false advertising.

I mounted an L bracket on the top of the HDTV antenna and stuck a Cell Phone booster antenna on it. It is mounted so its vertical with the antenna up or down.
Just have the cable routed in thru the door right now.

Without seeing your picture, did you install a cellular booster or WiFi antenna? A WiFi antenna will benefit from the additional height gained by attaching it to the crank-up antenna, but a cellular booster will not because it needs a metal ground plane such as the roof of your AS. Cellular boosters should be attached directly to the roof.

Wrong. You are thinking of the little magnetic antenna that comes with a Wilson booster.

Mounted on my mast is a 9-inch Surecall omni-directional antenna and a Wilson YAGI directional antenna. These are connected with LMR-400 (ultra low loss) (custom made by air802.com). Internally I run a WeBoost Drive 4G-X and have a antenna switch to toggle between antenna's.

The WeBoost Drive 4G-X comes with the magnetic antenna. Did you replace it with the YAGI?

It's in a drawer. I replaced it with both of the above antenna's. Most of the time I use the omni. But two weeks ago I actually needed the directional which has to be pointed at the tower.

Hello, I am a Barrie AS owner as well and am trying to get good info about trading my original TV antenna for one for my King antenna head, AS @ CanAm quoted me $500.00 to change it. I know it would be eight if they do it but,,,,,$500 could buy a lot of gas, any suggestions would be much appreciated.
