Airstream Rear Camera Mount

I don't know about you but the lightweight mount to hook to your windshield doesn't work. We have a 2025 27' Globetrotter and previously a 2024 25' International and had the same issues in both. Get ready to take off for a road trip and set the rear camera mount to the windshield then out of nowhere, and sometimes when you really need it, it falls off.

We were at the Region 3 Rally and one of the Vendors had what I thought was the ticket, a pump up suction mount that will not come off. It by itself wouldn't work for mounting the camera monitor, but with some engineering I've made a unit that WILL NOT come off. It will take all the bumps and bangs from the road and works great.

I'm trying to find out if others have the same issue or not or what the interest would be for this solution.

Hi Tearle. Points for creativity! Personally, I dont like anything on the windshield. I just hold the thing, if we use it at all.

I altered an over the door towel rack so the monitor can hang from the rear view mirror.

I’ll try to post a photo later

Just me...

I use Industrial Strength Velcro to attach our rear-view camera. No clamps or hole drilling needed. Run the power wire down the rain channel into the AS through the window and to the rear power port. (Cig lighter style)

New camera and mount

I recently replaced my camera from Haloview and they did not supply a suction mount, I ordered that separately from Amazon. So far it has stayed attached for over a month and on some bumpy roads. Might work on the original monitor.

Just buy a new GM truck and add the rear camera option. Then it will display on the main truck screen and you have nothing else attached to the windshield. All it takes is a bunch of money! Good luck!

I just installed a BT7. I have only done a couple of short tows, but I am liking the rearview mirror mount.

As for the OEM suction cup, yeah that didn't last long. Replaced it with a GoPro suction cup. Worked far better, but not perfect. Fell a couple of times over several years of use.

There is the monitor, and then there is the actual camera.

My Trade Wind came with the camera permanently attached to the outside rear of the trailer. The Voyager monitor is heavy and pops the suction cup off the front windshield. Even when attached it blocks forward view and is illegal in many states.

I attached Velco straps to the back of the monitor and strap it to the rear view mirror. It blocks the mirror, but the mirror is not useful while towing a trailer anyway.

Never had the problem. While it may be poor hygiene, lick the thumb, wipe on the suction surface, apply to window. I turn my rearview mirror vertical with the monitor mounted left of mirror. As stated above, can't use the rearview mirror while towing trailer. By the way, I have a Voyager monitor for sale.

We have a dashboard mount from Bulletpoint. We have a Ram 2500 and use the Rubigrid mount with arms for the Rear View camera monitor and tire pressure monitor

They have solutions for all makes of truck.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with “bullet mounts” for the OEM monitor? Looks like it could be a solution.

Not a fan of suction cups, in general and in life

FWIW... I found the "bean bag" tripod that goes with my HaloView monitor and it works real fine for us... it sits still and is easy to just grab the entire assembly together and stow in truck center console.

Quite frankly they are “bulletproof “. The build quality is exceptional and the design is well thought out. There is no chance that the attached monitor is going to fall off. Ever.

They are expensive. But on the other hand the cost was less than 0.1% of our new-ish trailer 😀

These work great

I had the same problem. I tried everything. There is a reusable tough rubber band that is sold on Amazon called Nearockle cable tie. I’ve attached a screenshot. It attaches the screen perfectly to my rear view mirror. And never ever slips.

It is an issue

Same issue here. Also the ball ridges had smoothed to the point of being useless. I will say, Josh at ASA Electronics was incredibly helpful! They sent a replacement mount (complete) that arrived in two days! In the meantime I had already bought a Scosche MAGICMOUNT so I’m keeping the ASA one as a spare. The MAGICMOUNT has been flawless in use over a few trips now. And, being as it’s magnetic I can easily reach up to remove the screen. I did use the included plate & had to snip one edge so it would fit into the center position on the back of the screen.

My 25' Globetrotter has a Reolink 4k POE 180 degree backup camera. You can view this camera via WiFi in the TV with the ReoLink apps.

Renders outstanding 180 degree views in back of the Airstream.

I will second this recommendation. I installed the Bulletpoint product in our '24 Silverado and it holds our rear view camera display and our Garmin RVCam 795. The mount fits perfectly, replacing the small tray above the display screen, and the attached devices are solid and steady. Really love this system.

Got a PM about the mount used for this installation here it is.

I suggest Ram Mounts. Take a look online at OC Mounts. They have a large selection of items to create most any mounting combination you want. I’ve been using their windshield suction mount. Very easy to mount and stays put.
