Try Appple Valley Trailer Park between Hendersonville and Edneyville off
Route 64. My fatherinlaw lives in Asheville and says that was all he knew of in the area.

Another one
This one is open year round, tho access may be limited by bad weather www.campfirelodgings.com it is north of Asheville near a little town called Weaverville. It is a small campground IIRC only 25 or so full hookup spaces. But in a beautiful setting.

I don't know when you are planning on being there, but be very aware of the weather. Coming off Black mountain (9% grade for several miles) in ice or snow could be more excitement than you care to have.

I'm glad you liked it. Next time you go there, please tell Jeff and Cindy we said Hi.

This is a great thread! We go up to Hendersonville to see my folks, and I had not heard or seen most of these recommendations. Awesome!

Next time you go there, you can ask Jeff about the LP line to the oven debacle.

Black Forest Campground, Cedar Mountain
You may also want to consider this campground.
Black Forest Campground
Google Map Location
This campground is just down the road from where we live. We camped there right after getting our 34'. It is a bit isolated and located at 3000' so there is a grade to go up to get to the entrance to the campground. But once there, a lot of peace and quiet.
Here are some nearby things to do while there:
DuPont State Forest
About This Park - Caesars Head State Park / Mountain Bridge Wildnerness Area
Visit Water Falls - Home
And I especially got a kick reading the following review from one of those RV websites, pretty much sums up exactly why we do like it there (like boone docking with full hookups and yes it is gravel roads inside the campground.):
"Owners very friendly, camping area roads are just to steep and dusty. We like to ride bikes, and walking you just can't do this here. No cell phone reception, and to far from everything. Like boone docking with full hookup. We camped here in a Travel Trailer."

Looks gorgeous but $40-$50 a night plus extra charges if you have more than 2 people. Wow.
Must be really nice.

This is one of my favorite areas and we were privledged to have lived in Pisgah Forest for 3 years. I would advise coming in from Brevard on 276 rather than from Ceaser's Head. It is till curvy with some mild grad but nothing like coming from SC. You can get off i-26 in Hendersonville and come across on Kanuga which becomes Cascade Lake and cut through Dupont. You will be minutes from Pretty Place, several gorgeous falls and Dupont State Park, Holmes State Park and the Pisgah National Forest.
