Insurance for Full Timers
Hi All,
I couldn't find too much information on the forum about insurance on trailers for full timers. My insurance company (Allstate) said that they will not insure travel trailers that are being used "as a residence". Some company must insure full timers... I hope!! Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Miller RV Insurance Agency, Inc. - Recreational Vehicle Insurance
I've been happy to have Miller's as my agent. They specialize in full-timers.
I've had them for three years now.

Your post didn't say if you are staying in one place or moving aound. If you are going fulltiming check my post on changing domicile to South Dakota. You only have to stay one night. Our insurance costs dropped by two thirds for the identical coverage in Arkansas. I posted on what mail forwarding service and insurance agent/broker we used. My fulltimers thru GMAC was extremely pricey in Arkansas. Good luck, 'shaker

I am confused on the State Farm coverage. Does it vary by state?(I was an Arkansas resident at the time) I have a 2006 Classic. I had been with SF for over 22 years. When I asked about coverage for my AS, I was told that the only coverage they offered was depreciating (the same as they do for autos). That was when I changed insurers. I knew the value would be lower than what I owed before the ink was dry. Just wondering, 'shaker

As 2 air said, Progressive will cover full-timers. Our insurance company (Geico) will as well.

I just went with Progressive. Easy online, and two fulltime options, traveling and stationary. Both are listed as primary residence.

Check with an independent agent in your state. Call more than one to see what they can offer. Many of us (independent agents) represent or have access to specialty companies like Foremost.
Travel Trailer Insurance - Foremost RV Travel Trailer Insurance
Good financial strength, owned by Zurich, one of the largest insurance companies in the world. Available in most states.
Here's the program overview provided to agents:
Program overview
When your customers go on a vacation or camping trip, the last thing they want to do is worry about insurance coverage. That's why Foremost offers specialized insurance programs for travel trailers that provide the kind of security your customers need for real peace of mind.
A specialized policy means they're covered whether it's a brief trip, or a long journey taking several weeks or even months. Foremost can help your customers protect their RV investment and enjoy the open road. And isn't that what RVing is all about?
Better than an auto policy!
People who insure their travel trailer on an auto policy may be disappointed at claim time when they find out they didn't have enough coverage. A Foremost policy provides important standard and optional coverages not available in conventional auto policies. With our travel trailer policy, your customers will enjoy these valuable benefits: - Comprehensive coverage for protection from just about any direct, sudden, and accidental loss, including: collision, fire, smoke, floods, landslides, hail, windstorms, animals, vandalism, low branches or overhangs, theft and lightning.
- Coverage for attached accessories, including awnings, satellite dishes and TV antennas.
- Emergency expenses coverage that pays for lodging or travel home if your customer's rig is damaged or destroyed by a covered loss more than 50 miles from home.
- Campsite/vacation liability coverage that provides liability coverage when your customer using a parked travel trailer as a residence.
Optional coverages
Foremost also offers travel trailer owners these optional coverages:
- Total Loss Replacement Coverage protects your customer's travel trailer from the effects of depreciation. If a new-model travel trailer is destroyed within its first five model years, and your customer is the original owner, we'll pay to replace it with a brand new one of similar kind and quality - no matter what it costs as long as your customer replaces the travel trailer.
In years 6-10, we'll give your customer up to the original purchase price toward the purchase of another travel trailer. This option can save your customer literally thousands of dollars when compared to typical auto policies, which pay only the Actual Cash Value (ACV) of the travel trailer at the time it's destroyed.
- Replacement Cost Coverage on personal belongings that are destroyed or stolen is another option worth considering, particularly for customers who use their RV often and those people who carry a lot of expensive personal property on their trips.
- TraveLine® Towing and Roadside Assistance eliminates the hassle of buying a separate towing plan. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year everywhere in the United States and Canada, towing, jump starts, roadside service, flat tire changes, fuel delivery, and locksmith services are just a toll-free phone call away.
An experienced TraveLine® representative will help your customers find the help they need using a vast network of more than 20,000 authorized service providers and qualified repair facilities. There are no out-of-pocket payments required, either, for covered losses. Just sign and drive. What's more, your customer's travel trailer is covered for this regardless of who is driving!
- Full-Timer Coverage provides liability protection very similar to a homeowners policy. While an auto policy will only provide liability protection when your customer is using the RV as a vehicle, a Foremost full-timer policy covers your customers when they are parked and using your rig as a residence, too.
- A special option for fifth wheelers is that we'll insure the medium duty tow truck your customer uses to tow the fifth wheel, provided the medium duty tow truck's GVWR exceeds 10,000 pounds.
- A Special Program for Stationary Travel Trailers that gives your customers extensive comprehensive and contents coverage if they use the travel trailer as a seasonal or permanent residence. This includes vacation liability coverage that covers liability, medical payments to others, and property damage claims caused by an accident for which you are held liable

Full Time Insurance
I had Foremost on my 06 Safari when I got cought in a hail storm in NM., when the trailer 7 m0. old.
They only wanted too pay $6,000.00 for repairs. Airstream quaited $20,000.
Formost insisted any auto body shop could mold the panels.
After Weeks of fighting, with me and Airstream (Chris in the service dept) they agreed too pay, but didn't pay on time as promissed. This resulted in my beeing held up for departure from the Mother Ship. Airtsream let me stay for free, but Formost should have kept there word.
I dropped them and went with Prgressive who I had a prior claim with and was satisfied with there claim adjustment.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Don
