If you are looking for a state park then the Georgia Veterans Park is real nice and is located on lake blackshear with waterfront sites . It is in the Cordele GA area.If you want a little more rustic appeal there is Florence marina state park in Lumpkin GA which is on the chatahoochee river and it is the only state park in GA with full hookups .We have gone to both of these parks often since they are close to us. Georgia state parks website is a great resource. Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites
We stayed at FD Roosevelt and it was awesome! elec & water hook-ups, miles of hiking trails, Callaway Gardens nearby, just beautiful! You can see some of the pics I took while there in my gallery. Good luck!

Jekyll Island is a really nice place. Campground is a privately owned one, though. Google it.

Have to second Davis's suggestion of Veterans Memorial. Convenient from the interstate and a really nice, quiet lake. Mind the gators and they won't bother you.

North of Macon, High Falls is nice. This is a very small park with a small lake, and it's 2 minutes from the interstate.

The website is the ticket.

Been to FDR State Park - you can not find a better one - great location - lots to do.

Search for GA Power Company RV Parks - they look nice also.

I have to ditto the FDR State Park recommendation. We have hosted there two times and unless you are there during a major holiday it is a pretty quiet park. All sites have water and 30 amp with some having 50 amp. Some sites have lake view and some are pull thru. Lots to do in the area and they are now allowing boats in the lake. Not many fish but the lake is very nice. Have fun.

We recently stayed at a Georgia Power owned park at Lake Hardin near Columbus. The name is Blanton Creek Park. It is really well maintained and some of the sites are right on the water. Water and electric, but the dump station is a good hike from the camp sites. There is a rally there that you are welcome to come join us at the weekend of September 12-14. Check out this thread below:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...lly-42075.html
To see who's coming, the rally calendar has it at:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/cale...=2008-9-13&c=1

I also second both Veteran's Memorial and FDR. If you are into golf, Veteran's has a great golf course.

It has been a long time since I stayed at the GA Power campground at Lake Sinclare (30 years) but it was pretty run down at the time.

And of course, welcome to the forums. It's always nice to have another "southsider" amongst us. Before long we'll have enough to have our own South of Atlanta Rally.
