Full-Timing...Our first 90 days.

We've just completed our first 90 days as full-timers in our renovated 1971 Sovereign. So far, we are loving it. We have traveled to a couple of State Parks, my Father-in-law's ranch, and have set up a temporary base camp in Shady Oaks RV Park in Fairfield, TX. It's a really nice park. $375 per month including all utilities, Wi-Fi , and cable TV. We'll venture out to Arkansas to visit family and some State Parks after Christmas.

I am amazed at how comfortable and spacious this 45 year-old trailer feels. I am REALLY amazed that everything works and works very well. We did all of the renovation work on our Airstream. I'm truly proud of how she turned out.

Once we purchased the correct hitch ball mount, which lets the trailer be level, she tows very nicely with our 5.4L Ford Expedition. The Reese WD hitch works well.

It was scary selling our home and moving into the Airstream. My wife and I are both happy with our new life.

We've been full-timing for just over two years now. The S&B went away about 15 months ago. We're thoroughly enjoying ourselves, and looking forward to getting the Foretravel sold and the Airstream purchased.

This is our plan also. Hope to have everything sold and purchase an F250 and Classic within 2 years. Would love to keep hearing about your experiences. Will you be blogging or posting on Instagram? Best of luck to you!!!

You have our collective admiration, Texas Dave. This took guts...I'm so glad its working out as you expected. I'm not sure I'd have the guts to sell my house, garden, cats/dogs, small boats etc. Many safe travels to you. Signed: Intimidated

TX Dave - Glad to hear your enjoying life on the road. I just reached my 5th month on the road as a Full timer. As a virtual employee I can be anywhere as long as my cell phone and laptop work. Looking at moving around about once every 30-60 days for a different change

In Fort Lauderdale for month of December and might head down to Key West if I can get my solar panels upgraded. Staying at the Navy Base there requires being in the boondock area for up to 2 weeks then rotate to a full h/u site.

Enjoy the road!!

Wow

Your rig looks great, we are glad for you. There are so many wonderful places to see in this country and so many are so reasonable in cost if you have a camper. We have been camping a little over 100 days a year for 6 years and love it.

Good Luck

Congrats. After just reading another post about issues with an Expedition TV, great to hear you are not having problems. Our TV is also an Expedition, and we are acquiring a FC23d with a Reese WD shortly, an upsizing from our 19' Bambi, which (for us) has not required a WD.

Fairfield. Home of my favorite truck stop diner. Very few good ones left nationwide.

$350-450 covers a lot of Texas RV parks in or near desirable metro areas (with some exceptions). Mines currently that higher number, but Electric included. $100/month for electric is about right to annually average AC use in Texas.
