Great information here! SewStream, thanks for the post about the dehumidifier that can help dry laundry. We keep a couple of microfiber cloths around to wipe down anything wet, including surfaces, the aluminum skins, the shower, etc. in an effort to combat moisture. But then the towels sit around wet. We can’t really put them outside to dry on most nights because the humidity outdoors will keep the towels wet all night long. Wet bath towels and microfiber cloths laying around are certainly adding to our humidity issue. I’m tempted to buy a small clothing dryer.

We full time in a 27FB in South East Florida. Humidity is always an issue here. Even during our cool months we find ourselves running one or two of the A/Cs just to control the humidity.

RuthTheBambi... it sounds like you’re doing just about everything one can do to control the humidity. The bit about the mattress and underlying plywood is something I need to look into. Our humidity is never below 50% either.

I hope you find a solution, good luck!

Really great information. Having a dehumidifier at home is a great thing. You know I grew with my grandmother and we were living in a small old house. The air in the house was always very wet. I don't want to speak about the basement, humidity was always present there. I think that now I have problems with my lungs because of that. I cannot breathe normally when I'm in a wet area. That is why I found a lot of information about the dehumidifiers from the Aero State and bought the best one. To be honest I didn't know that I have to take into consideration so many thing buying a dehumidifier. But it works and helps me a lot!

True. If your AC is working properly, it will pull humidity out of the air. That is how it cools.

Too bad Airstream AC’s don’t have a dedicated dehumidifier mode like the Mitsubishi Mini Splits do. I have the Mini Split in my shop (SE Texas) and only run it on dehumidifier mode all summer and most of the winter.

It keeps the humidity below 50% and the temp below 70 degrees, even on hot humid Texas days.

Anxiously awaiting delivery of my GT27FB scheduled for the end of October. It will have two AC units.

The mini split in our 55 has a dehumidifier setting that really helps keep things dry once we get to set point.

Living in the south where the humidity is rather high most days, I use these products regularly.

An air conditioner is a cooling unit that removes humidity as a byproduct of cooling the inside air. It transfers the heat to outdoor coils. A compressor dehumidifier has all the components indoors and as a result actually increases the indoor temperature because it must do mechanical work to move the refrigerant to remove the humidity. I don’t see how a fridge fits in here at all except if it’s humid enough you get condensation on the door.

Ruth, for the bed we have the following that can be purchased from the Airstream Supply Store. https://airstreamsupplycompany.com/p...isture-barrier .
As for the inside of your rig, that has been pretty well answered. Good Luck.
