We just upgraded from the Flying Cloud to the new '23 Classic.
We want to upgrade our mattress but I noticed that the head of the mattress is slightly smaller to fit into the lifts.
any other classic owners changed mattress recently any recommendations/
Thanks
Best? It all depends on what type of mattress you like. Memory foam - of which there are many types? Traditional spring? Combo? There are many choices about the mattress construction that are personal. Once you decide on a preferred construction, there are many sites that offer custom builds to match the existing AS mattress shapes and some retailers even offer direct AS replacements.
We went with Brooklyn Bedding. They are based in Phoenix and have show rooms there. If you’re ever passing through I’d recommend checking them out.
The other thing to consider is not everyone makes a short mattress. So if your mind is set on a specific brand, you may want to check to ensure they have the correct size

I had a custom mattress made at Brother's Bedding in Knoxville. Best purchase I ever made. They used my Airstream mattress as a template, about 3 days and about $900. An Escapees camp and a KOA within one exit.
Find a custom mattress maker and "test drive" their springs and pads till you get your perfect mattress.
We changed our mattress a couple of months after taking delivery of our new '23. Have been sleeping on our Wilderness RV Mattress now for about a year and really like it. Like others said, so much is personal preference, but we found the workmanship, overall quality, and prices to be compelling for us. We also added a pillow top on top just for a little extra cushion because...why not?
