Another possibility...
Your tank might not be cracked - there are other problems like a vent tube which is slipped from its mounting point on the tank or cracked which could be the problem, or a rubber mounting collar for something which wasn't installed correctly.

Another possibility is the toilet flange, which is screwed to the floor same as in your home, has cracked down below the floor but above the tank. The flange itself is likely screwed into the tank.
Because the flange is fixed at both ends, age and pounding down the road can cause the flange to crack, allowing seepage through the crack and onto the outside of the tank, producing the odors.
Might be worth a look before you tear out the tank.
