Allison Transmission Shop Recommendation

We had an issue with our Skydeck not shifting properly into 4th gear (slipping) while in Utah. We made an appointment at Smith Power Products (a certified Allison shop) in Salt Lake City. Unlike the norm for RV service, we can highly recommend them for routine service or repairs. They were accommodating, efficient, properly diagnosed the issue (pressure solenoids) while keeping us informed of the process and results, they had the parts in stock and got the repair done on Sat morning so we could be on our way. Total time 2 days from arrival to departure. It is a large shop (20 plus bays working 24hrs) and although they do service RVs (there were a half dozen or so on the lot) their focus is commercial vehicles. That may be the very reason they know what they are doing, which is not always the case with RV repair specific shops.

Sounds great. Will mark that down to use if I am in this area.
I was in Ft. Worth at a professional commercial Freightliner service shop and had the most horrible service experience ever including after I paid and tried to get my rig for 5 hours I got to it and they damaged the driver site rear corner just drove into something.
A good Freightliner service was in St. Peter MO the first service I had done there.

I'll call out Reno, their Freightliner dealer, though not open 24 hours, opened early after I limped in the night before last September. In my case it was just a blown hose, but they kept me up to date and charged me $300. Not too bad. Spent the day gabbing with a bunch of truck drivers who were in similar states. Have yet to have a Quick repair done on an RV.
