Transmission Gear indicator on 2001 L/Y

Been looking everywhere for the little plastic needle in the steering column that points to the gear engaged. Suddenly mine quit moving and I found that it was broken. First thought was to glue it back together, but I can't find the piece that broke off, all I could find was the upper 75% which includes the white arrow itself, which I can get back into the column, but it will only work with the steering wheel tilted all the way forward as the square shaft is no longer long enough to stay in it's hole.

Anyone else have this issue or know of a fix?
