Just bought 2003 Land Yacht 33 w/9900 miles

My wife and I are coming back to Airstreaming with our purchase of a 2003 Land Yacht 33 with 9900 original miles. The PO kept it in a covered shed; nside and out looks like new.

The dealer is replacing the original tires and batteries. I am going to have many questions. I am immediately taking it to a Workhorse Service Center for a complete check of the chassis from stem to stern.

Is there anything specific I should be aware of?

Here are some photos..

You should just add these photos to your original thread.
It looks like you found a great looking class A motor home. Congratulations it's brand new.

Looking good. It looks almost showroom condition.

Welcome back to the AF and future great Airstream holidays Al. That unit looks so good. Inside storage pays off.

Even though it looks perfect, I recommend a thorough inspection of the roof joints for potential leaks.

The unit is old enough now for the caulking to have hardened and possibly parted from vent protrusions etc.

Wow! That's amazing!

It's like walking into a time capsule...all that oak and shiny gold combined with nothing more offensive than light taupe...

...strange thing, however, is that those colors and style remind me more of the mid to late 90's rather than the 2000's.

NOTHING says "millennial" more than oak/taupe/gold. The giant coffee maker just adds to its "long ago" appeal.

This thing should be preserved in an RV museum; I doubt another such perfect example will ever be found that someone didn't update.

Congrats!

I see you had planned on buying a "NEW" Airstream Class A diesel pusher when they brought out the 45 footers???????

You might have to wait a couple more years for that to happen but you are prepared for it.

Very nice setup you have there.

Beautiful coach!

I second the recommendation on checking all the roof joints for missing or cracked caulk. The joints between the end caps and roof need close inspection.

Since you are in FL, you might want to look at adding a second 120V line so you can run both ACs while hooked up. I just made the upgrade to ours and it is sure nice on the hotter days.

I also added a wide strip of dark window tinting at the tow of my windshield. I didn't find the sun visors to be effective.

Check your front air bags and make sure that thery hold peoper air pressure (I set mine at 60 PSIG). Mine had to be replaced. Good threads on doing this on this site.

Also, check front end alignment at a GOOD shop. Proper alignment, good tires, and front air bags at proper pressure are critical to good road manners of the coach.

The fluid level in the tank for the leveling jacks is critical. If the fluid gets low, you will get a "jacks down alarm". Check book for proper fluid (mine takes automatic transmission fluid) and it only takes a small amount to restore to the proper level.

Your batteries MAY need to be replaced.

A year ago we replaced our carpet and vinyl flooring with 1/4 inch solid cork tiles that are glued down. We are very pleased with our choice of flooring materials.

This is nice! Did you get it in FL? I think this is the one we considered. In the end, we went with a trailer, but I do love the Motorhomes too.

We bought it from a dealer in Brooksville, FL who had it listed on Craigslist. So, if that's the one, what did you think of it?

We currently have it at Register RV in Brooksville having the entire chassis and running gear inspected and serviced. The selling dealer put new Sumitomo RV tires on it as part of the deal.

That is the one! We loved it! Thankfully we ruled out getting a motor home or you wouldn't have it. Haha.

Nice unit, we have a 2005. Just love the thing. We have the Safe Steer System on ours and it seems to make handling a little easier. Their claim to fame is that the unit will steer straight even with a front tire blow out. Enjoy your new RV, there just great fun! CR
