Leveler Jacks

My 2000 LY has PowerGear vertical hydraulic tank levelers. Motor and pump started screaming a while back and it is time to something about it before my summer trip. Anyone else have to replace the pump? Any tips on how to do it, where to buy replacement parts or if you had it done by a shop; and how much would be a fair price? I have been to their website and conversed by email with a tech who said it was the pump and sent me a tip sheet that is not very informative.

Got into it today. Drained oil, removed wiring, removed hydraulic block. Tried to get motor off and it was frozen in place. Removed entire tank and beat on the bracket with a hammer until it yielded. Brought it to the bench and disassembled the pump portion from the block and found it to be in excellent condition. The motor however is out to lunch from top to bottom. Base rusted to block, bearings and brushes disintegrated, and armature smells burnt. Priced new motor online and found one for under $300. Hope it is the right one as I have not checked numbers yet.

Whoa! That is bad! I have had some success taking motors to "electric motor rewinder" places. They live and breathe this stuff and can give you an idea if they can refurb or not. There are a couple places up north of Awstun. We live in Round Rock.

I would check out those options first. In fact you may learn there are othe options to power the pump that might make it worth your time to check out.
