larger LY Alternator & Isolator

I stopped by 4alterstart in Dallas TX earlier this month and let them look at my 92' 36" TAG LY with Chev TBI 454 eng. They said the alternator was most likely 105amp, which to me seems way to small by todays standards. They recommended that I remove it, send it to them for a rebuild to at least 180amps, which would also mean a new 180amp isolator and a 4ga ground as well. Has anyone done this upgrade, and what is your experience with it? I was very impressed, btw, with the 4alterstart people and products. Thanks, D&D

Alternator Size

What do you need all the juice for???
If you were doing short trips, stop and go, then yes you might be better served with more alternator capacity. But most MH drives are plenty long enough to charge things up before the next stop.
I stayed with the Delco 130 A and could have still used everything else with it.
You will have considerable expense if you try to go more?????? MHO only.

On my 93 it came with 105 amp alternator, when I had it at a GM dealer I checked into having a larger alternator installed, and they told me there wasn't enough room to install a larger one. Now if your rebuilding your 105amp to a 180amp with the extra wireing in a smaller casing, I wonder about a possible problem with excessice heat, shorter life of alternator. Just a thought
