Land Yacht Towing

I want to reinforce the towing receiver on my 1992 Land Yacht motorhome. If others have had theirs reinforced to tow more than the 2000 lbs limit recommended by the factory, I would be grateful for learn how you had your receiver reinforced.
Did you replace the factory unit with another, heavy duty receiver, or did you have the attachment to the frame strengthened? Did you have the frame extension rails cross braced?
Any comments appreciated.
